Authorities have combed through thousands of pieces of evidence and several leads, but there has been no further progress in the case. Many terrified university students have publicly stated that they will not return to campus for the final weeks of the semester.
Authorities said that the four students were stabbed to death while their housemates Bethany Funke and Dylan Mortensen slept on the first floor. Despite earlier alerting the public that a killer or killers targeted the victims, police later announced that they are unsure whether the quadruple homicide was a targeted attack.
Authorities have ruled out several suspects, including Goncalves' ex-boyfriend Jack DeCoeur, the man seen behind Goncalves and Mogen at the food truck, the person who drove the girls home, surviving roommates Mortensen and Funke, and the friends called to the house by the surviving roommates on November 13, as reported by MEAWW.
