MOSCOW, IDAHO: The incident on November 13, inside the college home where four students, Ethan Chapin, 20, Xana Kernodle, 20, Madison Mogen, 21, and Kaylee Goncalves, 21, were brutally killed, continues to remain a mystery. With no trace of the murder weapon or the suspect, there are now five wild theories the internet sleuths have about the University of Idaho murder including a "broken window" and "chloroform".

As previously reported, the theories have been emerging since the bodies were found and investigators received more than 1,000 tips but failed to locate the suspect or the murder weapon. Madison and Kaylee, who were longtime best friends, were spotted at Grub Wandering Kitchen, a food truck that offers late-night eats at weekends. The truck was parked between the Moscow branch of insurers State Farm and the outdoor store Hyperspud Sports. They were then last seen walking towards 'a private party driver' for their final ride home.

Idaho murders: New theory emerges about survivors 'locking their doors' after hearing noises

Madison Mogen: The tragic last hours of Idaho murder victim revealed

Theory 1: Chloroform used on the victims

As quoted by DailyMail, a Reddit user wrote, “Could the murderer have potentially used chloroform? I know its a stretch of a theory, however, with the lack of immediate evidence in a killing this big, it's coming across very calculated. Considering the lack of noise it doesn't seem like the wildest idea to consider. Chloroforming the victims would allow for more silence. This is only in regards to the victims without defensive wounds. I'm just baffled.” Another wrote, “If they were drunk enough to not wake up from him entering or standing over then he stabbed them in a way that punctured their lungs I don't think they'd even be able to physically scream. If he was able to get close enough to chloroform someone without them waking up he would have been close enough to do that. It's much harder to knock someone unconscious with chloroform than most people think too.” The theory is yet to be ruled out by authorities.

Theory 2: Killer came through broken window

One person on Reddit wrote, “At the beginning of this case I saw a TikTok video that I think has since been removed. I can't remember who posted it. I think it was Kaylee but could've been Maddie. The video was touring through the house, showing their storage room laundry room, etc., etc., but one very important detail they showed in the video was that there was a window without a screen that never locked because it was broken. I have been trying to find it again and I can't. Does anyone else here remember seeing this video on TikTok? I can't be the only one who remembers this. It was literally up there last week. It could be relevant.” To which, a user responded by saying, “Yes I saw that video too! Now that you mention it I saw it but it is gone now. I wonder if they took it off to examine everyone who watched it and didn't want more views on it.” One of the other users wrote, “In the video (since removed) she literally says... 'and here is our window that doesn't have a screen and never locks because it is broken. It might have been Dylan [Mortensen] that posted it. I can't remember. But I believe she shut down all her social media. Maybe that is why the video is missing now. Crazy you brought this up because I do 100 percent remember this video now!”

Theory 3: Victims' neighbor was involved

The internet sleuths doubt the third-year law student Jeremy Reagan, a neighbor of the Idaho murder victims, and deemed him a suspect. Police have not tagged him as a suspect but had also not ruled him out. He told Court TV, as stated by DailyMail, "I didn't do it. I have nothing to hide. I'm willing to give DNA, fingerprints, whatever they need." He added, "Officers came by my house. They talked with me, they interviewed me. They didn’t bring anything to collect DNA today. They said, ‘If we need you, will you come down to the station?’ I said, ‘Absolutely.'”

Theory 4: Mysterious Red Mustang

One of the users on Twitter shared a photo of the car with a Reddit screenshot that read, "Yesterday [November 25] I took a screenshot from the Idaho murder Facebook group of what appears to be a red mustang convertible being searched by a forensics team. The original image and thread were removed from the FB group due to disagreements on whether or not the image showed a forensics team or a group of people fixing the car. Below is the bit of information I picked up from the post: image was posted by someone in the area, location of the vehicle is on S Deakin St (less than a mile from the house), the bumper appears to be removed,” as earlier stated. A New York-based investigative journalist for Fox News Digital, Michael Ruiz, tweeted saying, which has been deleted now, "#Idaho police acknowledged searching the red Mustang and say it has not brought them any closer to a suspect. It was not towed away. They are 'continuing to follow any/all possible leads.' Keep the tips coming." The department debunked the rumor and said, "this information is not accurate, and the vehicle is not connected to this incident."

Theory 5: Roommates Dylan Mortenson and Bethany Funke are suspects

Doubts were raised towards the two surviving women, Funke and Mortensen, both students at the university and friends of the victims. However, police ruled out their involvement in the crime, including the man from the Grub Truck surveillance video. Commenting on the survivors, Idaho State Police rep Aaron Snell said, "Potentially they are witnesses, potentially they are victims," reports NY Post.
