A sign put outside an iHop restaurant in Arkansas has slammed President Joe Biden’s Covid-era unemployment benefits because “nobody wants to work anymore”. The notice received a lot of attention online after a customer shared his fury over cut-back hours. A Twitter user @ThatOtherDude12 reportedly went to the place to have some family time but found the restaurant closed.

So the user tweeted while sharing their disappointment at the multinational pancake house restaurant chain’s political stance: “Hey @IHOP, my family and I genuinely enjoy going to your restaurants. But if this is corporate policy, I guess we won't be visiting anymore. I know we're just one small family, and we don't matter,  but we can't eat at a place that condones this.”

The iHop’s sign stated, “Due to the fact that Biden gave out way too much free money and nobody wants to work anymore. We are forced to reduce our hours during this week.” It also noted that from Monday to Friday the restaurant will be open from 7 am to 5 pm. On weekends, it will be open from 7 am to 10 pm.

This comes as data compiled by the Department of Labor noted that only 210,000 employment positions were added by the employers in the month of November. The figures were revealed before it was announced that the Omicron variant of coronavirus was found in the US. It has also been reported that the country has reclaimed 83 percent of the jobs lost due to the deadly virus.

Meanwhile, iHop’s sign received a lot of negative reactions from people. A user blasted, “This is unacceptable. IHOP won't see me either. It's a matter of principle. If a company disrespects the President then they don't want my business.” Another one wrote, “It couldn't be the $2.25 an hour that people don't want to work for, could it? PS extra unemployment ended in June. It's December now.” “Good for you. If IHOP wants workers, they now have to be competitive with other employers. That means paying better wages and creating better working conditions. Or, they can just lie to their customers,” the third user noted.

A person said, “Ensure a living wage, iHop. People are no longer willing to subsidize your business while working two or three jobs to pay the rent. Is this corporate policy? Or the actions of a franchisee? P.S. Whoever made the sign flunked grammar. Zero sympathy.” Another person stated, “I pay 19.00 per hour at my Mr. Sub. We make fresh bread. Atmosphere at my store is laughter. My staff treat all our customers without any Drama. Just pay living wages @IHOP You will see ur business thrive.”

“That money ran out months ago. Raise your wages @IHOP People are rethinking their priorities and working for min wage minus taxes during a pandemic w no benefits ain't the lure you might think it is.  800K dead so the job market is an oyster waiting to be plucked. Step it up,” a tweet read and another noted, “@IHOP - I think between owning international house of pancakes and Applebee’s that you can pay your employees a fair wage and then you won’t have any problem with your scheduling.”
