Hugh Jackman and wife Deborra-Lee Furness's 24-year passion was 'love at first sight'
Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness have been together for 24 years and to mark this celebration, the actor recently took to his social media to share his joy with his fans. He confessed his feelings for his wife and remarked how with every passing year, their relationship gets stronger and better.
"These 24 years have been the best of my life. And, as far as I can see, we get better every year. Debs, I love you with every fiber of my soul. Happy anniversary. #24," he wrote while sharing a throwback picture of them as a couple.
While the couple is celebrating their 24th anniversary, their romance was unlike any other. The pair met on the sets of TV drama 'Corelli' in 1995. Jackman had confessed that since the time he started working with Furness, he had a big crush on her. It did not come as a surprise to many as every person in the room had a crush on her.
Fortunately for Jackman, Furness chose him to date. However, it wasn't an easy task convincing the actress. As reported by Goalcast, Jackman needed to convince Furness to be in a relationship with him but once she agreed, there was no turning back. The two were head over heels in love with each other but for Jackman, he knew this relationship was different.
Just two weeks into dating, Jackman knew that Furness was the one he would marry. “I knew two weeks into meeting Deb that we were going to be together for the rest of our lives,” he said. Despite this, just like every other couple, the pair also had their ups and downs.
Once their relationship also reached a point where Furness decided to break up with Jackman. While one would think that this would have made him doubt their relationship, Jackman had revealed that despite these problems, he was still certain that she was the one. “I knew before Deb knew,” he said. “Even when she tried to break up with me, I knew. She kind of broke up with me, a little bit. Early on, three weeks in. I managed to talk her out of it, thank God. I just knew 100 percent, I even knew when she was trying to work out reasons to break up with me.”
Once the pair was able to work things out, Jackman popped the big question. Less than a year later, the two were married and thus began the saga of their romance that to date sets an example of what relationship should look like.
Furness has seen Jackman evolve as a person and as an actor. She has stood by him when he did not have many roles in his pocked while also beaming with pride when his talent helped him become a part of the A-list crowd. Jackman had admitted that one of the reasons for their marital bliss had been the timing of their marriage.
He admitted that marrying before he became an A-list star helped the marriage to stay afloat. “I think it helps that we were together before any of that, so we’ve been on this unbelievable journey, places we never thought we’d go to and we’ve done it together," he said.
Now that Jackman has found a place for himself in the hearts of millions, the two have set some rules to ensure that the spark in their relationship never wears off. The two have made sure that they do not stay apart from each other for more than two weeks.
