We have always found it interesting how the plot of HTGAWM keeps thickening every time you revisit it. The series’ super convoluted narrative makes you relook at every incident and every time you do that you will discover a new angle or a new clue. Take Asher Millstone’s (Matt McGorry) death for example. In Episode 9, before the show went on its midseason break, we saw him lying in a pool of blood in front of Gabriel’s (Rome Flynn) apartment. He was not dead as of then, or so we thought until we saw the FBI barging into Connor’s (Jack Falahee) home and arresting him and Michaela (Aja Naomi King) for Asher’s suspected murder.

Now, as we look at the trailer of Episode 10, it seems like Connor could have killed Asher. After all, there is a quick clip showing him hitting someone violently. It could be a possibility but not logical as we visit the scene all over again.

Think about it, Connor, Michaela, and Oliver (Conrad Ricamora) were at their home getting ready for graduation, when Asher left. So could he have possibly followed him and killed him at Gabriel's apartment?

We see Asher go to Bonnie’s (Liza Weil), smeared in blood et al. Then Bonnie calls Frank (Charlie Weber) saying that she needs him at her place urgently. This gives us reason enough to consider Frank to be Asher’s killer. Why? It’s simple because if Asher went and told Bonnie that he has been FBI’s mole, she is not going to let him get away with it. No matter how much Bonnie cares about everyone, she is most protective of Annalise (Viola Davis) and she would anything to keep her safe from the law. Ergo, if she asked Frank to “get rid of Asher”, we won’t be surprised.

But, here’s a small catch. Asher’s body was shown lying on the foyer of Gabriel’s apartment. It doesn’t make sense for Frank to take him there and kill him, so he could frame Gabriel for it. Or could he? Now, that might be food for thought.

There’s also the possibility of Gabriel killing Asher. But why would he? Gabriel will be more than glad to throw Annalise and his minions in jail, only to avenge his father Sam’s (Tom Verica) death. So killing Asher wouldn’t benefit him anyway. Or, if you want to dig deeper and think that Asher’s death has nothing to do with him being the FBI informant, then Gabriel killing him to get back Michaela (Aja Naomi King) makes complete sense.

Finally, in line with suspects, there’s a very unlikely candidate, but not impossible also. Wes Gibbins (Alfred Enoch) is back from the dead, which is clear from his presence at Annalise’s funeral. Could he have killed Asher to keep every single crime committed by him and his friends, under the wraps?

It’s not really impossible, come to think of it. Wes was partly responsible for Sam’s death; Michaela pushed Sam off the stairs, and later killed Simon Drake; Frank has so many people’s blood on his hands, we have lost count; Bonnie killed Rebecca and Connor burned Sam’s body. So, in short, everyone from the gang has a crime on their head. And knowing Wes’s history with Annalise and his friends, he wouldn’t stop at anything from protecting them, even if it means killing one of them who rats them out.

Do you agree that any of these men could be Asher’s killer?

‘How To Get Away With Murder’ Season 6 comes back on April 2, at 10 pm/9c, only on ABC.
