LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Blessed with eagle eyes and legendary on-field skills, Tom Brady was undoubtedly one of the most coveted players in the history of the National Football League (NFL). In his 20-year-long career, Tom Brady, whose height is 6 ft and 4 in (193 cm), has achieved a slew of magnificent records that will remain untouched for a long time.

The 46-year-old legendary quarterback, who announced his retirement in 2023, has his name written all over the history of the NFL after winning the Super Bowl a recording-breaking 7 times. He was also named Most Valuable Player in five out of the seven championships he won.

Besides his prowess as a mind-blowing quarterback, the one aspect that has captivated NFL fans is Tom Brady’s height. He is undoubtedly one of the tallest players in the game, which clearly gives him an upper hand on the field.

Tom Brady believes he is the shortest on the field

Tom Brady’s height has been a hot topic since the start of his career in the 2000s. Over the years, many have claimed that Brady is 6’1" or 6’2". However, NFL’s official website confirms that the former NFL star has a recorded height of 6 feet and four inches (193 cm).

Tom Brady’s height is slightly more than the average height of quarterbacks in the NFL. This allows him to remain in the pocket, read plays with ease and throw above defenders. However, Brady still believes he is the shortest on the field.

“I’m 6 foot 4, 220 pounds, and I’m the smallest guy out there,” he previously remarked during a conversation with Interview magazine.

How does Tom Brady’s height compare to other NFL players?

Tom Brady’s height is one of the reasons why he is so suited to be an extremely successful quarterback. Compared to his peers in the league, Brady’s height is above average but he is surely not one of the tallest players in NFL history.

The former New England Patriots quarterback appears pretty short when compared to Richard Sligh (standing at 7′/213cm), Dan Skipper (6'10”/208cm), or Ed “Too Tall” Jones (6'9”/205cm). However, he appears taller than most of the players in the game.

Even outside his sport, he is taller than many leading sportsmen including Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Roger Federer, Stephen Curry, and Virat Kohli.

Is Gisele Bundchen taller than Tom Brady?

A globally-renowned model, Gisele Bundchen is surely one of the tallest divas in showbiz but she is clearly not taller than Tom Brady. While he stands tall at 6 feet and four inches, she's 5 feet and 11 inches (180 cm). The couple were married for 13 years before announcing their divorce in October 2022.

They currently have joint custody of their two children: Benjamin (12) and Vivian (9). However, Bundchen falls on the taller side when compared to Brady’s former lover Bridget Moynahan, who is just 5′9" (174 cm).

Brady and Moynahan were first linked in early 2004. Their relationship didn’t last long as after three years of dating, the couple announced their split in December 2006.

Tom Brady's son is nearly as tall as him

Brady took to his Instagram stories to share a fun snap that showed that his 15-year-old son John "Jack" Edward Thomas, whom he shares with Moynahan, is nearly as tall as him. In the picture, the two measured their height by standing with their backs against each other.

"Not yet kid!! I'm still here," Brady wrote in the caption, with a series of laughing faces and red heart emojis. He also revealed that apart from being nearly as tall, his son also shares the same position as him.

"I love watching him play quarterback because I think there are very few things in life that I could probably help him with. You know, I don't have a lot of specialties in life other than probably throwing the football. He's just a great kid. But I can definitely help him at quarterback,” he said on 'Go Podcast'.

Tom Brady's personal and professional life

Brady, a legendary quarterback, played for the New England Patriots for 20 seasons and was a key player in their dynasty from 2001 to 2019. He led the team to 17 division titles, 13 AFC Championship Games, nine Super Bowl appearances, and six Super Bowl titles.

Brady holds numerous major quarterback records and is the NFL leader in career quarterback wins, regular season wins, playoff wins, and Super Bowl Most Valuable Player Awards. Born in San Mateo, California, he was raised as a Catholic.

The New England Patriots selected Brady, a college prospect, in the 2000 NFL Draft. In 23 seasons, he started 381 games—more than any other NFL quarterback. The most seasons a quarterback in the NFL has spent with a single team is 20, which he had with the Patriots.

In 21 of his seasons, Brady started as the team's main starter and guided it to 17 AFC East and NFC South championships.

With fifteen Pro Bowl selections, he is the most selected player in NFL history. In 2007 and 2017, he was named league MVP three times. Brady won seven Super Bowl titles during his 21 seasons as the team's main starter—more than any other player or NFL team.

With his 10 Super Bowl appearances, he set the record for MVP awards in the Super Bowl with five. From 2001 to 2019, Brady and head coach Bill Belichick led the Patriots to a dynasty. They were the most successful quarterback-head coach combination in NFL history.

Significance of height in professional sports

Success in sports can be strongly influenced by height, depending on how the sport's design interacts with physics and biology-based height-biased factors. The degree to which height matters will depend, if at all, on how well the complex web of links balances.

The average NFL player is 6 ft 2 in (1.88 m) and weighs 216 lb (98 kg). Tall quarterbacks have an advantage in American and Canadian Football due to their ability to see over large offensive and defensive linemen.

Peyton Manning and Tom Brady are considered among the greatest quarterbacks, standing at 6 ft 5 in (1.96 m) and 6 ft 4 in (1.93 m), respectively. Shorter quarterbacks have an advantage with their lower center of gravity and balance, making them better able to duck under tackles and avoid sacks.

They also have a quicker release time. Tall wide receivers have an advantage of reaching higher than shorter defensive backs to catch highly thrown passes, but this has limits due to their agility and lack of overall speed or strength.

Tight ends are typically over 6 ft 4 in (1.93 m) and have greater body mass to be effective blockers. Shorter defensive backs are utilized due to their agility and ability to change directions instantly.

Offensive and defensive linemen are at least 6 ft 1 in (1.85 m) and often as tall as 6 ft 8 in (2.03 m) to effectively play their positions. Short running backs have an advantage due to their shorter stature and lower center of gravity, making them harder to tackle effectively and making it harder for defenders to react at the beginning of a play.

Public perception and discussions about Tom Brady's height

Brady's height has always been a topic of discussion among the netizens. Some users spoke about player's height on X. Here's what they discussed:

"The height of Liberal hypocrisy: they are roasting Tom Brady for jumping off a cliff with his daughter in Costa Rica but they helped keep Epstein’s pedophilia operation secret for years. Then they wonder why people don’t trust them," one user wrote.

Another user added, "After throwing for 290 yards yesterday, Tom Brady's career postseason passing yards now exceed the height of Mount Everest."

Under head coach Lloyd Carr, Brady battled for starting job with Drew Henson and eventually started every game in the 1998 and 1999 seasons. He was All-Big Ten honorable mention and was the team captain in his senior year.

In the 1999 season, Brady nearly led Michigan all the way back, but played the entire game for the first time and led Michigan to another 4th-quarter comeback. He posted a 20-5 record, ranking third in Michigan history with 710 attempts and 442 completions.
