LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Taylor Swift is a popular name in Hollywood, best known for hits like, ‘Should’ve Said No’, ‘White Horse’, ‘You Belong with Me’, and ‘Cardigan’.

But apart from her songs, the Grammy winner is also famous for her enviable height, reportedly being 5 ft 11 in (180 cms or 1.8 m) tall, making her quite tall among her contemporaries.

However, with time, she began loving herself and how tall she was.

There was a time, however, when the 33-year-old did not like her height. In 2008, the songwriter recalled her younger days as she told Girls’ Life, “I didn’t like being tall when I would walk up to a group of girls, and they were all a head shorter than me.”

‘I don’t have any height limits’

“When I can put on a pair of four-inch heels and walk into a room and be taller than everybody else, now I look at it as a good thing,” she noted, before giving an insight into her dating preference.

Swift said at the time, “I don’t have any height limits. Like, if a guy is shorter than me, that’s cool, if he sweeps me off my feet, you know?  If a guy’s taller than me, that is cool too.”

It has been said that Swift even wrote about her height and relationship issues in her 2012 creation ‘Begin Again’, part of the lyrics of which goes like this, “Took a deep breath in the mirror/ He didn't like it when I wore high heels/ But I do.”

Fans speculated about who she was talking about and many believed the song hinted at how Joe Jonas was insecure about his height when he was going out with the ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’ songstress. Jonas and Swift dated for a few months in 2008.

What is Joe Jonas’ height?

As per reports, Joe is shorter than Swift as his height is only 5 feet 7 inches (170 cms or 1.7 meters).

However, it does not seem the height difference was the reason behind their breakup since his current wife Sophie Turner is apparently 5 feet 9 inches tall (175 cms or 1.75 meters).

Following the breakup, the ‘Anti-Hero’ singer appeared on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ where she disclosed as per PEOPLE, “Some day, I'm gonna find somebody really, really, really great, who's right for me …"

“When I find that person that is right for me, he'll be wonderful and when I look at that person, I'm not even gonna be able to remember the boy who broke up with me over the phone in 25 seconds when I was 18.”

Eventually, Joe addressed the claims made by Swift as he reportedly shared, “I never cheated on a girlfriend. It might make someone feel better to assume or imply I have been unfaithful but it is simply not true. Maybe there were reasons for a breakup. Maybe the heart moved on. Perhaps feelings changed. I am truly saddened that anything would potentially cause you to think less of me.”

The singer also added at the time, “For those who have expressed concern over the '27 second' phone call, I called to discuss feelings with the other person. Those feelings were obviously not well received. I did not end the conversation. Someone else did. Phone calls can only last as long as the person on the other end of the line is willing to talk.”

‘A beautiful giraffe’

Meanwhile, apart from boyfriends, Swift has been lucky with friends, who never miss a chance to make fun of her tall figure. A few years ago, Lorde referred to the pop star as “a beautiful giraffe”.

In a now-deleted Instagram post, she reportedly said, “When you love ur friend but she is a beautiful giraffe so she gets cropped.”

Besides, in 2018, when Swift reportedly said in an Instagram video with Ed Sheeran, who is 5 feet 8 inches tall (173 cms or 1.73 meters), “I just want to start by saying that this is what he does.

He elevates himself, just like, geographically, so that he can seem better than me.”

He hit back, saying, “It’s only because you wear heels all the time.” But Swift did not back down as she went on to show her sneakers before adding, “Look what I did for you today!”

Taylor Swift's Journey: From early years to pop stardom

Taylor started young at age 9

Taylor Swift, born on December 13, 1989, in West Reading, Pennsylvania, started her musical journey at age nine in musical theater, performing in various productions.

Inspired by Shania Twain, she shifted to country music and began performing at local events. After watching a Faith Hill documentary, Swift decided to pursue music in Nashville, submitting demo tapes at age eleven.

Ronnie Cremer taught her guitar, and by 12, she wrote her first song, 'Lucky You'. In 2003, working with talent manager Dan Dymtrow, she modeled for Abercrombie & Fitch, had an original song featured on a Maybelline CD, and secured an artist development deal with RCA Records at 13.

To break into country music, her family moved to Hendersonville, Tennessee, when she was 14.

Swift attended Hendersonville High School before switching to Aaron Academy for homeschooling, graduating a year early.

Swift made the bold move to Nashville at the age of 14 after securing an artist development deal with RCA Records. However, her journey took a turn when, at 15, she parted ways with RCA.

The label's directive to record others' work and delay her album until she turned 18 clashed with Swift's readiness to launch her career with her own material.

In a pivotal moment at an industry showcase at The Bluebird Café in 2005, she captured the attention of Scott Borchetta, a Dreamworks Records executive forming his independent label, Big Machine Records.

Swift became one of the label's inaugural signings, marking the beginning of her remarkable trajectory in the music industry.

Insights into Taylor's life and work

Taylor Swift, renowned for her bold feminist stance, consistently weaves her empowered voice into the fabric of her work. However, understanding Swift's creations requires a nuanced perspective that considers her personal journey.

Delving into her songs and videos is akin to flipping through the pages of her personal diary.

In 2006, a 16-year-old Swift made waves with her debut single 'Tim McGraw', that ultimately led to her self-titled album. This made her the youngest artist to write and perform a No.1 country song.

Yet, during her teenage years, Swift's lyrical landscape didn't fully embrace the feminist perspective evident in her later works.

In 'Tim McGraw', she candidly presents herself as someone yearning for love, embodying a portrait of a girl longing for a connection, seeking to rekindle romance by invoking shared musical tastes.

Swift emerges as a hopeless romantic, believing her world hinges on the presence of her lover.

Her 2008 hit, 'Love Story', portrays her as a modern-day 'Juliet', awaiting her 'Romeo' to rescue her from despair.

This narrative mirrors classic fairy tales, perpetuating the idea of a male hero as the sole salvation for the "damsel in distress," promising a "happily ever after" life.

Swift's evolution from these early works to her current feminist stance underscores the complexity of her personal and artistic journey.

Path To success

Swift embarked on her professional songwriting journey at the age of 14, signing with Big Machine Records in 2005 to embark on a career as a country singer.

Over the years, she released six studio albums under the label, with the first, her 2006 self-titled album, marking the beginning of her musical odyssey.

The evolution of her sound unfolded with 'Fearless' (2008), blending country and pop, catapulting her to stardom with hits like 'Love Story' and 'You Belong with Me'.

'Speak Now' (2010) introduced rock influences, while 'Red' (2012) experimented with electronic elements, featuring her first Billboard Hot 100 number-one song, 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together'.

Swift embraced a new sonic identity with '1989' (2014), a synth-pop masterpiece, supported by chart-toppers like 'Shake It Off', 'Blank Space', and 'Bad Blood'.

Departing from her country roots, she navigated media scrutiny with the hip-hop-infused 'Reputation' (2017) and its number-one single 'Look What You Made Me Do'.

Swift's musical journey reflects not just her versatility but also her resilience in navigating diverse genres and styles while consistently dominating the charts.

Laying the blueprint for personal and professional success

From spending summers in Stone Harbor, New Jersey, where she performed in local coffee shops as a youngster to garnering numerous accolades for her self-titled debut album, Swift's hard work paid off in just a few short years.

In 2007, she made history as the youngest recipient of the Nashville Songwriters Association's Songwriter/Artist of the Year award.

Swift's achievements extended to winning the Country Music Association's Horizon Award for Best New Artist, the Academy of Country Music Awards' Top New Female Vocalist, and the American Music Awards' Favorite Country Female Artist.

Her exceptional contributions also earned her a nomination for Best New Artist at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards.

In 2008, Swift continued to make waves by opening for Rascal Flatts once again, marking her ascent in the country music scene.

Swift briefly dated singer Joe Jonas in 2008, adding a touch of personal intrigue to her burgeoning career.
