Dwayne Johnson’s height has drawn him into controversy

Dwayne Johnson’s height and impressive build have frequently drawn him into controversy over the years. As per his billed height in WWE, the star was introduced as standing over 6ft 5in but he recently confirmed that this is not his 'true' height.

In 2020, Johnson talked about his real height in an Instagram post, where he noted that he is actually 6ft 4in (193cm) tall in real life.

"Every time people see me, they go, 'You're a lot taller than I thought you would be.' I think because all Hollywood actors are generally little shorty shorts... I'm six foot four, despite what some reports have said that I was six [foot] five, but no. I'm six foot four and as of this morning [24 March 2020], I weigh 277 pounds,” said the Rock.

Is Dwayne Johnson the tallest WWE wrestler?

When Dwayne Johnson dominated the WWE ring during his time as a pro wrestler, one significant aspect behind his success in WWE was that he often towered over his opponents. The Rock’s height helped him stand out among the other wrestler and gave him the upper hand in the ring.

The ‘Skyscraper’ star was clearly taller than the average WWE wrestler but he was not the tallest. It's hard not to notice the Rock’s height when compared with giants like The Undertaker (6’10"), Big Show (7’ 2"), Kane (7’ 0"), and The Great Khali (7’ 1").

Did Dwayne Johnson lie about his real height?

Over the years, a wave of doubts has been raised over Dwayne Johnson’s height. Previously, fans claimed he is not even 6’ 4" as he appeared shorter while standing next to Conan O’Brien, who is actually 6ft 4in tall.

A report by Essentially Sport also noted that in one photo, the Rock appeared to be standing at the same height as Roman Reigns, who is listed to be a few inches smaller than him.

These claims were sparked further when Tech Outlook revealed that he wore shoe lifts during his time in WWE to have the advantage of looking big enough to pose a threat to other wrestlers who were taller than him.

The Rock's career: How height played a role in Dwayne Johnson's legacy

Like many WWE stars, Dwayne 'the Rock' Johnson has also experienced his fair share of controversies regarding his true height. However, rising above accusations about lying about his height, Johnson has become one of the most successful stars not only in WWE but also in Hollywood.

Rumors and speculations regarding Dwayne Johnson's height

WWE has always billed Dwyane Johnson's height at 6 ft 5 inches (195 cm). However, when Johnson's height is compared with his other WWE peers - Roman Reigns at his billed height of 6 ft 2 inches (188 cm) and John Cena at his billed height of 6 ft 1 inches (185 cm) - the 'Black Adam' star doesn't appear much taller.

This gave rise to the speculation on several online spaces including Reddit regarding the truth of his height and WWE's involvement in propagating the purportedly false information about his height.

One Redditor questioned in a WWE-themed subreddit, "Do you think the WWE take somebody's height while they have their boots on, and then, to some extent, continue exaggerating it from there?" where several fans have speculated that the largest pro-wrestling organization has probably exaggerated the 'Fast X' star's height.

Giving a list of several WWE superstars, whose heights are allegedly enhanced, one of the fans even claimed, Dwayne Johnson is probably "around 6"2-6"3." Even, Showbiz Cheatsheet has said in one of their articles that Johnson is sometimes found saying his height as 5ft 11 inches (180 cm).

Evidence clarifying the misconception regarding Dwayne Johnson's height

According to an article by The Sports Rush and several fans, the 'Moana' star had to wear heeled shoes during his appearances in WWE to look more imposing than his opponents. The added height, combined with his carefully constructed physique, made him look mightier than his several other WWE peers.

However, resting all rumors to peace, and debunking the theory of his height being 6ft 5 inches, Johnson told in an Instagram video that his actual height is 6 ft 4 inches (193 cm).

In the video dated March 24, 2020, Johnson not only claimed "I'm Six Foot Four, despite what some reports have said that I was Six Five, but no. I'm Six Foot Four and as of this morning," but also wrote his real height as 6ft 4 inches in caption.

Johnson seemed to have concluded all mysteries regarding his height by writing in the caption, "How tall am I? How much do I weigh? And was I nervous when I first broke into Hollywood? 6’12. Kidding 6’4. 277lbs."
