Roseanne Barr's Trump support and racial controversies
Barr started her career doing stand-up gigs in Colorado and rose to fame with the ABC sitcom 'Roseanne' which aired from 1988 to 1997. The show returned with its tenth season in 2018, becoming one of the highest-rated comedy telecasts in three and a half years.
However, the show got canceled the same year, reportedly due to a racist tweet Barr made about former Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett.
Barr's conservative political ideology and unwavering support for Trump were well evident on several occasions.
In a June 2016 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she explicitly stated her support for Trump in the 2016 presidential elections. She said, "I think we would be so lucky if Trump won. Because then it wouldn't be Hillary."
In 2018, she again defended her support to the former President in 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.'
According to NBC News, Trump criticized ABC for canceling 'Roseanne.'
Post the controversy, Barr's career was at stake. ABC also killed off her character from the series 'The Connors', a continuation of 'Roseanne.'
She returned to television five later with her new stand-up special, 'Roseanne Barr: Cancel This!' and a documentary about the actress 'Who Is Roseanne Barr?' Both premiered on Fox Nation.
Despite being ousted from the entertainment industry, Barr has no plans to hold back anymore.
