How much money did Mama June steal from Honey Boo Boo’s account? TLC star banned from visiting daughter at college
GORDON, GEORGIA: Mama June's unexpected visit to see her daughter Alana 'Honey Boo Boo' Thompson at college seems to have backfired, resulting in a tense and uncomfortable situation.
During a sneak peek of a forthcoming episode of 'Mama June: Family Crisis' Season 7, which was obtained exclusively by The Sun, the former child celebrity showcased a noticeably cold reception towards her mother, in stark contrast to the heated argument they had recently engaged in regarding their financial woes.
June and her husband Justin Stroud, embarked on a journey from Georgia to Denver, Colorado, where Alana attends school. However, they were far from being on the same page regarding their expectations for the unplanned visit to see Alana.
"You must not know Alana too good because that girl loves surprises," June said after her partner shared his concerns about surprising the 18-year-old.
Justin called Alana and asked her to go outside to check if a package had been delivered. Alana, who was out riding scooters with friends, said she would check when she returned. When she got back, she was surprised to find her mom and stepdad at home.
"What are you doing here?" the former 'Toddlers & Tiaras' star asked.
During a confessional, Alana said, "I thought I made it very clear to Mama to not come visit me in Colorado because I'm still pissed at her for stealing my money."
"I feel like Mama now is just trying to make up for her mistake but she is so aggravating because I didn't want her here. She causes too much drama and I do not have time for her to come out and do one of her 'surprise pop-ups,'" she added.
Soon after, Justin commented that the visit was going just as bad as he had expected. He sarcastically said, "Popping up on Alana? Oh, that was a great idea," to which Mama June replied, "And it was because she was surprised."
In a recent interview with ET, the 44-year-old mother confirmed that she did not take any money from her 18-year-old daughter, Alana, and further details will be revealed in an upcoming episode of their show, 'Mama June: Family Crisis.'
"I didn't really steal any money. You will see on Friday, you know, like it's not hundreds of thousands of dollars that is in question, it's only one show and that's Dancing With the Stars," June said.
During a March 2024 episode, Alana brought up the issue of a $33,000 balance in a Coogan account, which is meant for child actors. Alana expressed disappointment as she was expecting a higher amount, given the extensive work she has done onscreen
"There should at least be six figures in that account! Something's not adding up. My money is somewhere. It needs to be found right now, ASAP. Because this is not gonna work," Alana said in a solo interview.
Alana participated in 'Dancing With The Stars: Juniors' in 2018, earning around $60,000 before taxes. After taxes, she was left with approximately $35,000. Following financial advice, she put 20% of her earnings into a Coogan account. Additionally, money from their appearance as The Beach Ball on The Masked Singer in 2019 also contributed to the account.
"Alana has around over $200,000 that she has access to but she is choosing not to have access to. She is making those decisions because she's 18. So there's more, there's definitely more money out there," June said.
'Mama June: Family Crisis' star Honey Boo Boo lashes out at Mama June for using her savings
In a recent episode of their reality show on WeTV, Honey Boo Boo accused her mother of spending her earnings that could have been used for her college expenses. Alana argued that her account balance of $33,000 was significantly lower than it should be. The reality star asked where the remainder of her money had gone.
"Why was my money even being used, or being touched?" Alana questioned Mama June.
Alana kept arguing with Mama June, insisting that it was important to have the correct mindset in order to save money for Alana's future. Afterwards, she asked Mama June if she had any intention of repaying her, and her mother responded by saying that the money was no longer available.
Alana later accused her mom of not caring about taking their money, which she believed was the main issue. June refused to confess to taking Alana's money and instead shifted the blame to her previous struggles with drug addiction.
