LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Who says celebrity life is only glitz and glamour? In 2012, the world was shocked by the news of Sage Stallone's untimely death. For his father, 'The Family Stallone' star Sylvester Stallone, the loss of his oldest child was an unimaginable tragedy. Losing a child is every parent's worst nightmare, and it can be a long and difficult journey to find a sense of closure. The emotions that come with such a loss are complex and multifaceted, ranging from anger and guilt to deep sadness and despair. For Stallone, taking time away from work to grieve and process his emotions was a necessary step in coping with this devastating loss, therefore, he missed a couple of his movie promotions. 

At the time, Stallone was promoting his blockbuster hit 'The Expendables 2' with fellow actors Jason Statham and Bruce Willis. The news took a heavy toll on Stallone, completely erasing the jovial mood that he was in just two days earlier at the Comic-con while promoting the movie. The sudden death of his son became a topic of Hollywood gossip as the cause of the death was unknown and the authorities got involved in the mysterious death of Sage.

Who was Sage Stallone? 

Sage Stallone was a gifted actor and director who left his mark on the film industry with his undeniable talent and dedication to his craft. He was born in 1976 and was exposed to the entertainment business at a young age. He also mentioned in an interview during his promotion for the movie 'Daylight' about his desire to follow in his father's footsteps and work in the film industry.

Later, he pursued his career in the same, and in the 1990s, Sage started his acting career by starring alongside his father in a number of films, including 'Daylight' and 'Rocky V', where he was featured as a child actor and looked really adorable. Additionally, he played prominent roles in independent films like 'Chaos' and 'The Manson Family'. Sage was a film director in addition to his acting career. He produced and directed a number of films such as 'Vic', 'The Agent', and 'Promises Written in Water'. His dedication to telling original and thought-provoking stories on screen was clear in his work, which displayed his passion for the craft of filmmaking. He attended the University of North Carolina School of the Arts after attending Montclair College Preparatory School in Van Nuys, California.

How did Sage Stallone die?

Sage Stallone's unexpected death at the young age of 36 was a shock to the world. The cause of his death was determined to be a heart attack induced by coronary artery disease caused by atherosclerosis. According to the toxicology tests, they no evidence of any drugs in his system except for some normal over-the-counter pain remedy, but it was revealed that he was a regular smoker and smoked almost two to three packs of hard cigarettes in a day.

According to his friend Stephen Wozniak, Sage had been going through a tough time and increasingly isolating himself from others as he suffered some pressure to be in the shadow of his famous father. "He was private and guarded. I'm certain he did spend time alone for weeks," Wozniak stated. "Sage was not in the best of health and I think he felt the pressure. He wanted to make his dad proud. He felt the need to deliver rather than develop," he told The Sun.

Despite his notable accomplishments as an actor and director, it's clear that Sage was struggling with personal issues that were taking a toll on his health.

At the time of Sage's death, Sylvester made a statement on the heartwrenching news and said, “Because when a parent loses a child there is no greater pain." He also thanked Sage's mother who he divorced in the year 1985. "Sylvester Stallone is devastated and grief-stricken over the sudden loss of his son, Sage Stallone. His loss will be felt forever," said a statement issued by his publicist Michelle Bega. 

Sylvester performs 'shraadh' for son at Haridwar

Sylvester recently visited the holy city of Haridwar in India to perform the "shraadh" ceremony for his late son Sage. The ceremony is a Hindu ritual performed for the peaceful departure of the soul. Stallone was accompanied by his wife Jennifer Flavin and other family members. Stallone was advised by Indian astrologer Prateek Mishrapuri to perform the shradh.

Mishrapuri revealed in an interview with an Indian media agency that Stallone had expressed a desire to speak to his late son via soul channeling during their meeting in LA. Stallone confessed that he saw Sage's spirit therefore, Mishrapuri advised against it as it would be painful for Sage's soul. "In our meeting last year in LA, he (Stallone) asked if it is possible to speak to his son. I told him it is possible, but it would be very painful for Sage’s soul. He confessed that he had seen his son and that he was deeply disturbed," Mishrapuri said.

Stallone's visit to Haridwar and his participation in the holy ceremony are reminders of the actor's deep love and connection to his late son.
