SANTA FE, NEW MEXICO: Paul Geoffrey, famously known for playing Perceval in 'Excalibur' and also for his brief appearance in the popular drama series 'Better Call Saul', has died. He was 68 years old. Geoffrey died on June 3 and was battling cancer before his death according to an obituary that ran in the Santa Fe New Mexican.

Throughout the 1980s, the actor had a string of roles in films and television series before he opted to retire in the 2000's. But he had made a comeback in the past decade in small roles, like in an episode of the Epix series 'Perpetual Grace' in 2019.

Geoffrey began his career in real estate

Geoffrey spent a large portion of his life in England. He began his career as a real estate broker after moving to Santa Fe, New Mexico after he quit acting as a full-time profession. "A thespian to the core, Paul continued to act for the remainder of his life. He loved French wine and food, had a stunning grasp of history, was a life-long Arsenal fan, and excelled at being the sweetest guy in the world," read part of his obituary, according to Daily Mail.

Geoffrey's acting career

In his acting career, Geoffrey played the most pivotal role in the 1981 classic 'Excalibur'. The movie starred Helen Mirren and Nicol Williamson and helped to cement the careers of Patrick Stewart, Liam Neeson, Gabriel Byrne, and Ciarán Hinds. The film was a commercial success and garnered mostly positive reviews from critics, even though some were critical of its dark fantasy elements.

Although the actor was praised for his brilliant acting in the film, his career never actually took off from there. His next major role was as Lord John 'Jack' Clayton in Ralph Richardson's 1984 Tarzan film 'Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan'. He would also go on to appear as Mr Lockwood in the 1992 adaptation of Wuthering Heights, which starred Juliette Binoche.

Geoffrey appeared in a 1995 TV movie adaptation of 'Anna Karenina' which starred Jacqueline Bisset and Christopher Reeve. He acted in an episode of Inspector Morse in the late 1980s. His last major show was the Emmy nominated series 'Better Call Saul' where he played a tailor in one episode.
