How did Linda Little die? Michael Townson pleads guilty to murdering woman, 43, he met at bar in 1991
CAMDEN, GEORGIA: A long-unsolved 1991 murder of a woman in a bar has been solved after a man already serving time in Florida prison for killing a mother-of-three, admitted to the crime. Michael Townson, 53, was sentenced to life in prison on December 20 with the chance of release after 25 years for the murder of Linda Lois Little 31 years ago.
Townson, who was living in Orlando at the time, admitted to killing the 43-year-old by strangling her after they had met in a Daytona Beach nightclub in October 1991. Little's body has never been discovered even after several decades since she vanished. Townson, according to the prosecution, traveled north on Interstate 95 before leaving Little's body in a remote area of Camden County, Georgia, close to a dumpster. No matches for Little were found when unidentified remains in that county were checked. Townson already has a life term in jail for killing Sherri Carmanto in 2007 at her Titusville, Florida home with a steel pipe. Townson knew Carmanto, a 29-year-old mother of three, from their early years. While the two were having lunch at her house where he had been invited as a guest, the killer hit her 12 times in the head with a pipe.

He sold her remains to a couple for $50 after concealing her body in a laundry room. Townson had already served 12 years in prison for a series of armed robberies when he killed Carmanto. State Attorney RJ Larizza commented on his most recent confession in the following way: “This defendant is a confessed serial killer. It is gratifying to solve a cold case such as this.” Townson confessed to killing the woman in what police said was a "random" encounter between two strangers in November as reported by Daily Mail. Little, who was 43 at the time, was reportedly in the wrong place at the wrong time. After the case's breakthrough, Little's sister Wanda Hinson said: “I've been praying for closure and God's good. God worked through him, for him to have confessed to this.”
Little was last spotted cycling across a bridge after leaving her job at the Chart House. The murderer's confession to the terrible act didn't come until 31 years later. Detective Sergeant Dave Dinardi of the Daytona Beach Police Department stated: “Unfortunately, it just appears it was a random meeting and unfortunately on the wrong day at the wrong time, Linda just met the wrong person. They met randomly. They were enjoying a few drinks together and then something happened that, in his words, just caused him to snap.” Hinson, Little's sister, informed Daily Mail that she has already forgiven the murderer and that she would not continue to live in hatred and resentment. “I've already forgiven Townson. I refuse to live in fear, hate and anger. It doesn't help me. It doesn't hurt anybody else except me.”
