How did Keisha Nash Whitaker die? Oscar-winning actor Forest Whitaker's ex-wife leaves family disheartened as she dies at 51
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Actor, producer, and director Forest Whitaker's 51-year-old ex-wife Keisha Nash-Whitaker was declared dead by the family on Thursday night. However, the reason for the death has not yet been disclosed.
Whitaker's daughter True took to her Instagram story to pay final tribute to her mother, saying, "Goodbye mommy. I love you 4ever and beyond. the most beautiful woman in the world … thank you for teaching me every single thing I know. I’ll see you in my dreams and I’ll feel you in my heart."
True then uploaded several other photos of her late mother. Uploading a picture of one of the magazine's cut-outs, True wrote, "There's no one more important to me." She added Donny Hathaway's song 'A Song For You' playing for the picture.
How did Nash and Forest Whitaker meet?
The former couple met each other for the first time in 1994, on the set of 'Blown Away.' She was to play Forest's girlfriend in the action-thriller movie.
Later, Whitaker and Forest bonded well and started dating each other. Both tied the knot in Montego Bay, Jamaica, in 1996.
They share two daughters, True, and Sonnet Noel. Whitaker also has a son Autumn, 32, from her previous relationship.
Why did Nash and Forest Whitaker split?
After 22 years of being together, Whitaker and Forest opted to go their separate ways. Citing "irreconcilable differences," the couple filed for divorce in December 2018.
Whitaker shared with People about her marriage to Forest, stating, "It was basically more spiritual than traditional and sealed by a beautiful Apache marriage blessing."
On the other hand, Forest described Whitaker as "much stronger" when it came to handling kids.
He said, "I have to always take a pause when they come and say, ‘Hey Dad, is it okay if we do this?’ So I just look at them like, ‘Have you talked to your mom about that?’ They know I’m the easy one."
Whitaker graduated from Lynn Classical High School in Lynn, Massachusetts. The actress and model was "swept off her feet" as she witnessed Forest winning an Oscar in 1997.
Besides being an actress and a model, Whitaker was also the creator of a luxury cosmetic line, Kissable Couture.
