Bezos and Sanchez made their relationship public in January 2019, months after Bezos announced his divorce from MacKenzie Scott after 25 years of marriage. Meanwhile, Sanchez split with her husband of 13 years Patrick Whitesell.
A source said around that time, “They are really in love and happy which makes everyone who knows them happy. They have been talking about it for a long time. Amazon founder has earlier pledged that he will be donating most of his fortune to charity. Presently, it values at $124 billion net worth. Bezos talked about his philanthropic strategy and compared it with his arduous effort in constructing a titanic engine of e-commerce and cloud computing, as per People.
“The hard part is figuring out how to do it in a levered way. It’s not easy. Building Amazon was not easy. It took a lot of hard work, a bunch of very smart teammates, hard-working teammates, and I’m finding — and I think Lauren is finding the same thing — that charity, philanthropy, is very similar,” he said, adding, “There are a bunch of ways that I think you could do ineffective things, too. So you have to think about it carefully and you have to have brilliant people on the team.”
