Who was Boom P?
Boom Pacino, also known as Boom P, was a rapper from New York City and gained notoriety for creating the 'Respect Life' online series. While the rapper added "Pacino" later to his name maybe as a homage to the Oscar-winning actor Al Pacino, Boom was his childhood nickname.
Boom P began his career as an emcee in the early 2000s, releasing multiple mixtapes and albums. 'Storm Before The Reign', 'The Talk Of New York', and 'Made In America' are a few of his albums. According to The US Sun, Boom P also published the albums and mixtapes titled 'Heaven'. 'Street Is Mine', 'Draft Day' and 'Optimistic' and collaborated with Rakim, Gucci Mane, and other well-known rappers.
Inside Boom P's career
Boom P's music career took some time to get going, but after appearing in 'Respect Life', his popularity skyrocketed.
Boom P launched the web series 'Respect Life' in 2017 on YouTube. Bedford-Stuyvesant (Bed-Stuy), one of New York City's most populated boroughs, serves as the setting for the series. It centers on a young, single father who struggles to support his daughter, who frequently becomes entangled in New York's criminal underworld.
“Melo’s character is no a saint, but, driven by his role as a father to a young daughter, he recognizes his responsibility to spread some form of common sense and basic values in a neighborhood where none seem to exist,” the summary of the show reads.
As reported by MSN, “I always wanted to direct, so a director friend of mine, he gave me the knowhow,” Boom P said in a 2017 interview with BlackTree TV. “He was directing my videos, and I asked one day, ‘What would I need to actually do a little film?’ … He told me, like, you know, get this little camera right here, get your little laptop, a little editing program, and I did it,” he added.
