One of the most striking aspects of ‘Game of Thrones’ was the amount of gore and brutality that it included throughout its run and it won’t come as a shock to anyone if ‘House of the Dragon’ followed the same pattern. The first episode of the highly anticipated fantasy has just finished airing on HBO and there’s one scene that is making everyone feel really uncomfortable.

So, during the premiere, we see that Queen Aemma Arryn (Sian Brooke) is pregnant with a child and has gone into labor. King Viserys I Targaryen (Paddy Considine) feels that this time they are going to have a boy because he had a dream that all the Dragons roared as one when he put the baby on the Iron Throne. Aemma is still anxious about the birth because she has had five miscarriages in the last two years. In a few moments, we see the kingdom hosting a Tourney for the birth of Viserys’ child. Everything was running smoothly until Viserys got to know that they can save the mother or the child.

He took the difficult decision to save the baby and do a c-section to get the baby. The next few seconds were undoubtedly some of the most uncomfortable moments in Television’s history and sent chills down everyone’s spine. The maesters didn’t use any kind of anesthesia on the Queen to make the pain less bearable. Instead, they just cut her and take the baby out. Social media was in utter disbelief when they saw it and didn’t shy away from sharing their opinions on that particular scene. Although everyone applauded the masterful work of the ‘HOTD’ team, there were many people who believed that it was too brutal for them to watch.

One of the fans wrote, “Oh nonononono! They really gonna cut her open?! Oooh & no medication”. Another social media user said, “This is sooo painful to watch. Omgggg not them cutting out the baby. We have suffered enough”. Another social media user tweeted, “Nah man…this childbirth scene is beyond heartbreaking”. Another fan noted, “Omg… I couldn’t imagine having my baby cut out of me with no anesthesia knowing what my fate will be. So horrific!”

Meanwhile, one of the fans of the show compared that scene to the current situation in the US and said “women not having choices on their bodies” is the last thing she wants to see in her favorite fantasy series. She wrote, “The last thing I need from my *fantasy* shows is to continue to show women not having choices over their own body. That was bloody disgusting, hard to watch, and too close to home. This show is obviously well done, but yuck.”

“Damn…..sacrificed one and lost both,” said another one. “That was the most brutal C section,” wrote another one.

The birth scene ended up in the most gruesome way possible as Aemma died during the birth scene. However, the most disheartening news came when it was revealed that their newborn child also died a few hours later.
