The realm of entertainment has created some of the finest psychopaths who undoubtedly have gotten strongly imprinted on our minds. While some of their characteristics send chills right down the spine, a few aspects about them somehow makes you overlook everything else. The star of Lifetime's upcoming movie 'Her Deadly Groom', Michael DeVorzon, who portrays one such intriguing character in the thriller film caught up with MEA WorldWide (MEAWW) for an exclusive interview to share his experience of playing Vincent Black, an ever-charming and highly devious psychopath.

DeVorzon’s character clearly headlines 'Her Deadly Groom' and the actor deserves all the credits for bringing Vincent to life so skillfully. Unlike the typical psychopaths, DeVorzon's character required a fine balance between being a pretentious romantic and a nerve-wracking psychopath. When asked about his preparation for the same, the actor explained, "Before I started shooting the movie, I did some research on serial killers and psychopaths and I watched some movies. Just to kind of learn more and maybe see what other actors did."

Describing Vincent and his experiencing essaying the role, he added, "It was very much about balancing between being the romantic leading man who has to make the woman believe that he's a good guy and then having this other side which is this devious, menace, menacing and dangerous psychopath."

Offering his perspective of the stereotypical image associated with psychopaths, he explained, "About psychopaths, you know they lack remorse. They lack empathy and sympathy and they lose the ability to decipher right from wrong. So, it's definitely an interesting character to take on, but at the same time if you really look at a psychopath, or a lot of times bad guys and films, these characters, they don't necessarily think that they're bad guys, they are doing what they have to do to get what they want."

"And it's a survival instinct. It's also I feel it is an obsession to get what they want that is so powerful. So that's what makes a character like that so interesting to play. Vincent Black, as you know in the movie, is a devil of a character, but he probably didn't think that he was a devil. He was just trying to do what he had to do to survive. He had been operating this way for so long that it's it becomes second nature," DeVorzon added.

'Her Deadly Groom' offers interesting characters played by talented actors such as Kate Watson, who essays Allison, the female lead, and Golden Globe nominee Eric Roberts, who is seen as Allison’s former husband George. When asked about his working relationship with the rest of the cast, DeVorzon said, "I loved working with everybody. Everybody was very down to earth. There. You know, as I said, Before, there were no egos on the set, everybody was there to do a good job. And that made it a unique experience."

For the uninitiated, DeVorzon is the son of renowned musician Barry DeVorzon. In the later segment of the interview, he recollected his childhood memories of growing up in a house which always had music and was often visited by prominent personalities and fascinating people from the entertainment industry. However, his most cherished memory is that of meeting 'Rocky' star Sylvester Stallone in person, which absolutely blew his mind.

Meanwhile, making the most of the least ideal situation, the actor has been using his time in quarantine to work on his first song. He added that being in quarantine has provided everybody an opportunity to "stop running". "You're gonna have to learn to stop running. So during the quarantine, it really occurred to me. I have nowhere to run to anymore. So I'm just going to stop. I'm going to do some inner work," he concluded.

'Her Deadly Groom' premieres on July 26 at 8 pm ET on Lifetime.
