'He'd be better off doing a spoof': Internet disagrees with Jon Hamm's wish to have a role in MCU
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jon Hamm is eager for the opportunity to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as disclosed in a recent interview with Screen Rant. The actor, who is a comic book fan, expressed his hope that Marvel Studios considers him for future 'X-Men' and 'Fantastic Four' projects.
"I don’t know. Those decisions get made at such a high level at this point, definitely above my pay grade. I would love to," shared Hamm.
He added, "I’ve been a fan of Marvel Comics and comics in general since I was probably single digits. I think there are tons of stories that I’m familiar with, at least, that are still out there to be told."
Jon Hamm is hopeful as 'X-Men' is now part of the MCU
Jon Hamm was once in consideration for the role of the villainous Mister Sinister in a canceled sequel to 'The New Mutants', but with the acquisition of 20th Century Fox by Disney. As 'X-Men' is now part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Hamm has new aspirations for potential roles.
In the Screen Rant interview, he remarked, "Hopefully, whatever their plans are, they include me. But if not, I know that they have a pretty deep bench of folks that are ready to be a part of those stories."
He continued, "There are certainly a lot of stories in the X-Men world to be told. Fantastic Four as well, [like] Doctor Doom. There are so many great things out there. But yeah, I hope I get a chance. Who knows?"
Marvel has been dropping hints about the eventual introduction of the 'X-Men' into the MCU.
As for the 'Fantastic Four', Matt Shakman is currently working on the highly-anticipated film and addressed the casting rumors. "I understand the exhaustion of the Internet rumors, but I also celebrate them because I am a huge fan of the Fantastic Four," mentioned Shakman.
He added, "I certainly spent time wondering who should play them before I had the job of being the person who would cast them, so I understand the interest and I support it. And so there will be an announcement at some point in the future when the strike has concluded," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Internet reacts to Jon Hamm's wish to join the MCU
Following his interview with Screen Rant, several netizens took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their views.

Another said, "He'd be better off doing a spoof of the MCU. Like Captain America but goofy," while a person added, "Well yea who wouldn't want that marvel bag."
Someone else expressed, "He'd honestly be a great choice for Victor Von Doom but the MCU ain't all that anymore so he can prob do better. Mad Men is top 5 greatest TV shows ever."
A person joked, "In America, everyone will eventually have 15 minutes in the MCU."
