#ByeIvanka: Ivanka's free speech video backfires as internet calls her out for 'phony empathy and hypocrisy'
Ivanka Trump recently took to social media to deliver a speech about how "cancel culture and viewpoint discrimination are antithetical to academia". In the video, Ivanka had also commented about how it is important to listen to one another.
However, people were quick to slam her as she failed to address the recent protests that have been taking all across the US to protest the killing of several innocent black people. Many people took to the streets to protest the death of George Floyd, who died after one police officer kept his knee on Floyd's neck for a sickening eight minutes. Several protests erupted but President Donald Trump's government failed to ease people's anger. Amid all this, Ivanka's speech left everyone disappointed as she failed to talk about a burning issue, something that people have been wanting the government to address. She posted the video on Twitter writing, "Our nation’s campuses should be bastions of free speech. Cancel culture and viewpoint discrimination are antithetical to academia." Meidas Touch decided to edit Ivanka's video and pointed out how she "has done a public disservice to our country" along with the hashtag "Bye Ivanka".
The video showed Ivanka's speech that was edited along with scenes of protests that have taken place during Trump's administration. Ivanka started the speech with, "Your journey to this day did not come without determination, sacrifices, grit, sweat, and likely even a few tears." The video was followed by a snippet that showed the public being attacked with tear gases and police beating up people. Her speech further pointed out that the society is engaged in the national endeavor to take care of the well-being of people but the video that followed showed cop cars driving over people, police beating innocent protesters and Trump saying "you have to dominate the street", which is later followed by a video that shows a cop pushing an elderly man on the ground.
Ivanka also spoke about her personal growth amid all the discomfort and uncertainty. The video highlighted some of her accomplishments while shedding light on her earning of $82M in a year and hinting that her struggles were different than the ones being faced by the people at the moment. The video continued to pinpoint the differences between what Ivanka said and what was happening in the country. #ByeIvanka was quick to trend with people calling her out. "@IvankaTrump I'm going to miss your phony empathy, your blatant lies, and your hypocrisy the most. #ByeIvanka, you complicit hypocrite," read one comment. "I can't wait to pack your bags in November. Your family is done running this country into the ground," read another comment while another user noted, "#ByeIvanka spare us the song dance and pack your bags. Bye bye. Bye."
