Harry and Meghan missing out on earning opportunities as they are forced to keep a low profile during lockdown
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are losing out on major money-making opportunities as they are forced to maintain a low profile amid the coronavirus pandemic after officially quitting as senior members of the royal family early this year, according to a new report.
Although the no-longer-royal couple was supposed to reveal their new brand and charity this week on Instagram, they have currently delayed those plans amid the pandemic meaning that they would have to keep their money-making plans on hold too for now.
“Meghan and Harry are trying to rebrand themselves and want to make a big media splash, but are stymied by the coronavirus situation,” a source told US Weekly. “They are losing out on potential paid opportunities by having to keep a low profile.”
On the day of Megxit, March 31, royal expert Camilla Tominey appeared on the show 'This Morning' and announced the news of the indefinite delay in the duo's plans — firstly because they wouldn't get the "column inches" they wanted, and secondly, they felt it's "inappropriate" to rebrand at this time," Daily Mail reported.
"Today marks the end of that transition period, where they were meant to officially step down, but of course due to the coronavirus outbreak they haven't been able to do that. They've effectively put these all on ice," she said.
She added that moving to Los Angeles from Vancouver Island with their son Archie was not done in haste due to dire and uncertain circumstances going on in the world.
"We understand that this big move was done rather in a rush. They took one of the last flights of Canada to get to America and they're currently renting and looking somewhere, perhaps on the beachfront in Malibu. But all of the plans about them launching this new charity, have been put on ice," she said.
However, the move itself has not gone to waste as both Harry and Meghan have been keeping busy making preparations for the next chapter in their lives. “They did the move to LA to be closer to the deal makers and are setting up calls and virtual meetings with agents, studio heads," US Weekly reported.
A royal insider told The Sun that the couple's decision to move to the US was in the works for quite some time now. “This move was planned for some time. They realised Canada would not work out for various reasons and they want to be based in the Los Angeles area. They have a big support network there. It’s where their new team of Hollywood agents and PRs and business managers are based. Meghan has lots of friends there and, of course, her mum Doria."
On March 31, the couple signed off from their @SussexRoyal Instagram account, which they will no longer be using after having broken up with the British monarchy.
