Harry and Meghan Markle have filed a complaint with the police after they witnessed multiple drones flying over the $18 million Beverly Hills mansion owned by Hollywood mogul Tyler Perry that they are currently staying in. A friend of the formerly royal couple told Daily Beast the duo were forced to call the cops, reporting at least five drones flying as low as 20 feet over the house in this month alone, including a time when they were enjoying some private time at the pool with their young son Archie. The duo reportedly told the police that they feared that the drones flying overhead could be signs of a "terror threat."

“They see these drones coming in at them, and they guess that they are being operated by photographers, but they can’t just assume that,” the source told the site. “Meghan received racist death threats at the time of her wedding, so the terror threat is very real for them. But, aside from that, imagine if you were in their shoes facing that, how that would feel? To have drones buzzing around 20 feet above your head when you are trying to play with your son?”

The flying drones were the latest among the “unimaginable” levels of intrusion that the couple reported suffering at their temporary home, even after having stepped down from the royal family back in March. As media interest in the couple refuses to die down, some of the intrusions into their privacy included “following and tailing them every day” as they leave their house, cars “being driven very erratically” as they follow the couple closely, leaving them "rattled."

In one particular instance, which left the pair fearing for their lives, their vehicle came very close to crashing with one of the cars tailing them closely. It was  “incredibly dangerous, shocking, and scary," the source said. After reports that Prince Charles had been footing the security costs for the couple, Harry and Meghan now plan to hire a personal security squad, the source said, given the increase in means to surveil them. “They are not asking for any special treatment,” the friend said. “Protecting their family is their top concern.”

A spokesperson for the LAPD confirmed that there had been “an ongoing drone issue” in the area where Harry and Meghan are currently living. Back in April last year, the Thames Valley Police took strict measures to ensure that there are no drones flying near Harry and Meghan's home at Frogmore Cottage as the Duchess of Sussex was due to give birth. This included putting up signs warning drone pilots that it is illegal to fly drones in the area. The bright bold yellow signs read, "Police flight safety notice: Drones prohibited in this area" and spelled out that "launching, landing or operating drones or remote-controlled aircraft is prohibited in this area. Contrary to Article 95 of the Air Navigation Order 2006."

Their warning followed a reckless drone pilot who attempted to take aerial images of Harry and Meghan's home earlier that month.
