Harry and Meghan are 'almost blackmailing' royal family by threatening to give 'blockbuster' interview: Report
An explosive report has claimed that despite stepping back as senior members of the British royal family last month and insisting on becoming "financially independent," Harry and Meghan Markle are holding the monarchy for ransom for a payout to keep their mouths shut about the happenings behind the palace walls.
“There is a veiled threat that if Harry and Meghan don’t get what they want they will cut all ties and give a blockbuster interview. It’s almost blackmail,” royal expert Phil Dampier, author of 'Royally Suited, Harry and Meghan in Their Own Words' said, New Idea reported.
And there is a good chance that they will get all they want because there is a fear among the other members of the royal family that Meghan might start airing her dirty laundry in the public if they refuse the couple's demands.
“Apparently Meghan told friends that life behind the palace walls is toxic and even accused the royals of sexism and racism,” a source said.
Harry, who is believed to be worth about $35 million, and Meghan around $5 million, are reportedly demanding hush money from the palace to fund their extravagant lifestyle in Canada. “The royals fear that she’ll want $90 million from the coffers to finance their new life in return for keeping her mouth shut!” the source said.
It must be pointed out, however, they have not officially announced their desire to sit down for a tell-all interview. In the past, rumors of Ellen DeGeneres and the couple's good friend Oprah Winfrey sitting down with them for exclusive interviews post-Megxit swirled but there was no truth to them.
The recent report came days after the National Enquirer published a piece on how Harry secretly regretted breaking away from his family and even made a phone call to his sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, saying he’s made a “terrible mistake”. “Harry’s miserable and beside himself with sorrow,” a royal insider told the outlet. "He feels alone and cut off and is terrified of how he’ll handle the future and pay the bills.”
