Harley Quinn PornHub's 'most searched movie character', over Black Widow, Spiderman

Other top fictional characters that PornHub users sought out included Wonder Woman, Black Widow, Spider-Man, Catwoman, Batgirl, Joker, Deadpool and Captain Marvel

As 2021 is ending, some online platforms have shared their 2021’s yearly roundup of what their users were up to this year. For example, recently Spotify released its marketing campaign, called 'Spotify Wrapped,' that lets users see the most popular songs of their choice over the past year. Now joining the trend, Pornhub has also released its 'Year in Review' for 2021.

And not surprisingly, the most searched comic/movie character was Harley Quinn, maintaining its previous years’ No. 1 spot. Other top fictional characters were Wonder Woman, Black Widow, Spider-Man, Catwoman, Batgirl, Joker, Deadpool, and Captain Marvel. All of them are in PornHub's top 20 of the list.

DC Comics described Quinn as “the one and only Clown Princess of Crime.” It also adds that over time, “she became an entrepreneur and a member of several slightly less-than-reputable super teams (including the Suicide Squad), Gotham City’s all-girl gang the Gotham City Sirens, and a traveling sideshow. Along the way Harley has become one of the most popular super-villains in the DC Universe, thanks in part to her versatility, charisma and cheery-but-deranged outlook on life.”

Among TV shows, top searches by the adult site viewers include, ‘Rick and Morty’, ‘Teen Titans’, ‘Family Guy’, ‘Scooby Doo’ and ‘SpongeBob SquarePants’. But ‘The Simpsons’ topped the list. According to the compilation, horny people also like video game characters in their porn. Lara Croft from ‘Tomb Raider’ was number one in the category, followed by D. Va from ‘Overwatch’, Super Mario from ‘Nintendo’, Jill Valentine from ‘Resident Evil’, and Princess Peach from ‘Nintendo’. The top 20 list also included Abigail "Abby" Anderson, the playable false protagonist from ‘The Last of Us Part II.’ The character has been at the center of controversy lately because of her “unrealistic body type” and for not being “feminine” enough. 

Another interesting fact revealed in PornHub’s 'Year in Review' is that USA, once again, topped the site’s traffic while the UK, Japan, France, and Italy made it to the second, third, fourth and fifth position respectively. Also, the most searched category across the US was “Hentai” followed by “lesbian” and “milf”. Pornhub said that “hundreds of thousands of hentai videos can be found on our website, including professional productions, homemade animations made by fans and 3D generated scenes.”

Dr Laurie Betito, director of Pornhub's Sexual Wellness Center, noted, “Cartoons are more fantastical than regular porn. Because it’s not real, it can go further, with less constraints that reality offers. Hentai porn also tends to have more of a storyline and people seem to be more and more drawn to context.” Meanwhile, the online adult entertainment platform’s 2021’s data has attracted a lot of attention online. A user in a series of tweets shared, “I've seen a lot of people sharing the PornHub year in review but for some reason we're missing out sharing some of the juicer stats. Here's some of my favourite.”

“We all love a map! Here we can see the most unique searches for every US state, revealing Alaska loves a bit of morning sex while Washington, like its politics, loves to be double fucked. Ah yes, the default go-to place to watch porn, your gaming console. It seems Playstation owners are the horniest of the bunch while thankfully the kid-friendly Nintendo has largely been left out of the mix,” @IonaJTownsley noted.

@IonaJTownsley then added: “But don't let me talk so soon! Of video games searches on the website, Fortnite is at the top while Minecraft has managed to grow to 2nd place in 2021. With the whole game just large blocks being put on other large blocks my imagination can't stretch quite enough for this one. I LOVE some data on time. It seems 11pm and 12am are the most popular times to watch porn. Maybe we're all trying to sneak one in when no one else is around? Maybe we're just trying to fall asleep? Not the most interesting part of the report but it's nice to see we've put the family tablet away this year.”

Another user tweeted, “Pornhub Year in Review >>>>> Spotify wrapped.” “Goddess, the PornHub Year in Review is out and cuckolding is up 168%. Maybe you could discuss that and what that means for the future,” a tweet read.
