US tops PornHub traffic AGAIN, as Hentai porn tops country's most searched categories

Pornhub has released its “Year in Review” for 2021, which is like the adult site version of Spotify Wrapped. However, unlike the music app’s list of the most popular songs of this passing year, Pornhub’s catalog includes adult videos that got the most hits in 2021. US topped traffic to the adult website in 2021, while some regular presences in the top ten were missing as the site has been banned in those countries.

India usually came in the the top three in terms of traffic to the website but dropped out ever since the country banned the website in 2018.

Apart from the US, other countries on the top were the UK, Japan, France, and Italy. The adult site also disclosed what horny Americans searched most and as per its report, “Hentai” was the most searched category across the country followed by “lesbian” and “milf”. Pornhub said that “hundreds of thousands of hentai videos can be found on our website, including professional productions, homemade animations made by fans and 3D generated scenes.”

Dr Laurie Betito, director of Pornhub's Sexual Wellness Center, said: “Cartoons are more fantastical than regular porn. Because it’s not real, it can go further, with less constraints that reality offers. Hentai porn also tends to have more of a storyline and people seem to be more and more drawn to context.”

The report also revealed that ‘The Suicide Squad’ anti-hero Harley Quinn was the most-searched fictional character followed by Wonder Woman, Harry Potter, and Black Widow. Among porn stars, 25-year-old Lana Rhoades was America's favorite. Other top stars were Abella Danger, Eva Elfie, Riley Reid, and Mia Malkova.

Pornhub's record stated that the people spending time on its website were 67 percent male. The percentage of female visitors has also increased in 2021. Most of the visitors reportedly watched porn on their smartphones with the average time spent there being nine minutes and 44 seconds. Besides, the x-rated films’ site claimed that people in the US are “pretty regular when it comes to their masturbation schedule”.

A Newsweek report stated that "the 25-34 age bracket accounts for over a quarter of the website's overall traffic." It went on to cite the insights page and added, "This means that the average Pornhub visitor is now closer to 37 years old (which is an increase of 1 year over the 2020 estimate)."

A number of people reacted to Pornhub’s “Year in Review” list with a person tweeting, “Still hope for a miley cyrus sextape.” The second person wrote, “The most popular porn search term in Louisiana is ‘Naked Women’. Did Louisiana just get the internet yesterday?  I think that was my very first google search back in the mid-90s.” “‘Lesbian scissoring’ is the most trending topic. I like arts and crafts as much as the next guy, but it seems like a weird topic for Pornhub,” the third one added.

A user commented, “Americans are so racist, but the #1 sex search topic is ‘ebony’. Go figure.” Another one stated, “Porn featuring minorities is often incredibly degrading. Doesn’t surprise me racists get off to them being sexually mistreated.” A tweet read, “My God.  Bad enough so many have a porn addiction, but hentai? Japanese cartoon porn?! Geezus, people...what the hell is wrong with you?” “What a shame The Western is lost, addicted to anime porn,” another tweet noted.
