Hank Williams Jr's daughter Katherine Williams-Dunning, 27, dies in tragic car crash off Tennessee highway

Her husband, 29-year-old Tyler Dunning, was airlifted to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville; his condition is still unknown

The 27-year-old daughter of country music singer Hank Williams Jr. died in a single-vehicle crash in Tennessee on Saturday night, according to reports. Katherine Williams-Dunning crashed her 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe Saturday evening while driving down Highway 79 Southbound, northeast of Paris, Tennessee. Her husband, 29-year-old Tyler Dunning, was in the passenger seat and the pair was towing a boat behind their SUV, per Country Now. The car crossed the dividing median of the highway at 7:44 pm and rolled over, crossing all of the northbound lanes and finally stopping in the shoulder on the other side of the highway, it has been reported. Williams-Dunning succumbed to injuries sustained in the horrific crash. Meanwhile, her husband was airlifted to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, albeit his condition is still unknown. We are awaiting further details as police investigate the tragic incident.

Sam Williams, Katherine's brother, announced the crash in an emotional Facebook post. “My sister and brother in law have been in a terrible accident. Please pray for them so hard! Katie Williams and Tyler Dunning,” Williams wrote. Katherine Williams-Dunning was known to country music fans as the daughter of Hank Williams Jr. as well as a prominent social media personality. Last month, she shared a series of pictures of herself with Tyler and their two children -- 5-year-old Beau Weston and 2-year-old Audrey Jane -- as the stood together on an idyllic beach, enjoying the clear water. The happy sight and Williams-Dunning's heartfelt caption particularly set off thousands of her fans mourning. "These days are wild with a 2 and 5-year-old! In January this year, I decided to be more present and be more peaceful in all aspects of life," she wrote on May 20. "These kids will not pose for a picture but as long as they are having fun and feeling loved by mom [and] dad, surely we are halfway doing this parenting thing right!"

There were several comments under the picture Sunday morning as the tragic news of Williams-Dunning's passing made rounds on social media was covered by major news outlets. Fans poured in with prayers, eulogies, and extended condolences for the deceased 27-year-old's family. "Prayers for the family (for the poor babies) God be with them throughout their days(lives)," one fan wrote. "I'm so sorry for your loss may those babies know that their mother loved them god be with the family," another added.

Williams-Dunning is now survived by her two young children, her famous father Hank Williams Jr., mother Mary Jane Thomas, her siblings Sam Williams, Holly Williams, Hilary Williams, and Shelton Hank Williams — also known as Hank Williams III, according to Country Now. 71-year-old Hank Williams Jr. is mostly known for the hit number “All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Tonight" - something he rewrote for ESPN as the theme song for Monday Night Football.

The singer-songwriter is the son of Hank Williams, one of America's most iconic country figures who died in 1953 at the tender age of 29 with several hits under his belt.
