What is the plot of 'Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up'?

This is a follow-up to the 2024 documentary 'The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard', which examined the bizarre story of Gypsy Rose, a young woman who conspired against her mother Dee Dee Blanchard's murder.

The new documentary series will center around Gypsy's life following her December 28, 2023 jail release.

The show follows her journey as she creates a life for herself and learns to live as a free woman for the first time. The series will also shed light on how her childhood trauma and her case's notoriety have affected her to this day.

What is the real story of 'Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up'?

Gypsy Rose Blanchard's story gained international attention in 2015 owing to the horrific combination of abuse, manipulation, and murder.

Gypsy's mother, Dee Dee, raised her, subjected her to years of unnecessary medical procedures and treatments, and made up a narrative about her multiple chronic ailments and disabilities to gain sympathy and attention.

As Gypsy grew older and discovered how much her mother was lying, she began to explore ways to escape her terrible surroundings. She eventually started an internet romance with Nicholas Godejohn, whom she met on a Christian dating service.

In order to free Gypsy from her mother's grasp, the two plotted to assassinate Dee Dee and in June 2015, as Gypsy was waiting in a different room, Godejohn traveled to Springfield, Missouri, and fatally stabbed Dee Dee.

The case received a lot of media attention and sparked debates about the complexities of Gypsy's situation, and the flaws in the healthcare system.
