Golden Globes 2020: Fans are comparing Jennifer Lopez's giant bow gown to Ryan Reynold's Christmas sweater
The diva's stylist Rob Zangardi tied her hair in a bun and the shimmery effect of the overall look made her look almost similar to a Christmas gift
Kicking off the awards season this year, the 77th annual Golden Globes started with a string of celebrities dressed in gorgeous outfits on the red carpet. While Jennifer Aniston, Margot Robbie and Scarlett Johansson were among the best-dressed celebrities, Jennifer Lopez's gown caught many eyeballs too.
The songstress stepped out in a Valentino gown that featured a giant green-and-gold bow. Nominated for her role as Ramona Vega in 'Hustlers', the Golden Globe nominee for Best Supporting Actress accessorized the look with diamond and emerald jewelry by Harry Winston.
The diva's stylist Rob Zangardi tied her hair into a bun and the shimmery effect of the overall look made her seem similar to a Christmas gift. No sooner was she seen at the red carpet, her dress garnered several reactions on social media. While some fashion aficionados compared her to old Christmas decor, many felt her dress was similar to Ryan Reynold's iconic Christmas sweater.
"Why is @JLo out here looking like some old Christmas decoration that has been hiding out in grandma’s attic since the 50s? #goldenglobes2020," one tweet read and another said, "OMG JLo is wearing @VancityReynolds Christmas sweater."
Another tweet read, "JLo's dress looks like the bag you use to gather left over christmas paper after you've opened all the presents." And one user wrote, "Jlo looks like the Xmas package that fell off the @UPS that month one wanted to deliver #goldenglobes2020."
"These #goldenglobes2020 looks are terribly bad. It’s almost like they know #joanrivers and #FashionPolice arent there so they are all just wearing crazy stuff. JLO looks like a Christmas gift and Kerry Washington forgot her top," another Twitter user wrote. Another disappointed fan said, "JLo’s dress at the @goldenglobes is such a let down. Was hoping for something way better #goldenglobes2020."
Another harsh critic even said she doesn't deserve to be on the best dressed list. "I’m sorry but like...if ANYONE puts #JLo on any best dressed list...they are dumb. She looks bad! This 2003 hair! The wrinkles! The colors. Ewww sis #GoldenGlobes #goldenglobes2020."
One fan, however, praised her hairstyle. "#JLo arrived to the #GoldenGlobes wrapped in @MaisonValentino charming gown. On a side note, her hairstyle is out of this world! #FUSTANYXGOLDENGLOBES #goldenglobes2020."
The official red carpet pre-show 'HFPA Presents Globes Red Carpet Live' was held at the Beverly Hilton. The three-hour telecast will air live on NBC coast-to-coast on January 5, at 8 pm ET/5 pm PT.
