'Godzilla: King of the Monsters' SDCC sneak peek: Millie Bobby Brown name-drops "Monarch"

Before the annual event kicks off, a new teaser clip of 'Godzilla: King of the Monsters' has arrived, offering a glimpse of what could be a full trailer release during SDCC 2018.
UPDATED JUL 3, 2019

In less than 24 hours the most-awaited event in the entertainment industry SDCC 2018 will get underway, hopefully unleashing on us fans a barrage of new trailers, previews and early insights. But before the annual event kicks off, just in time, a new teaser clip of 'Godzilla: King of the Monsters' has arrived, offering a glimpse of what could be a full trailer release during Warner Bros SDCC panel over the weekend.

Interestingly enough the latest teaser took the attention away from the monstrous beasts and instead focussed on one of the few human characters in the movie, Madison Russell played by 'Stranger Things' actress Millie Bobby Brown. The teaser began with Madison, the daughter of scientist Emma Russell and Mark Russell (starring Vera Farmiga and Kyle Chandler) trying to make a distress call. And as it turns out for the first time a mention of "Monarch"  — the organization Madison's mother works for — is made.

Following the events of the last movie involving Godzilla and the MUTOs, the upcoming 'King of the Monsters" picks up the pace with an even greater number of monster surfacing up all over the world. Amidst all this Emma and Madison end up getting abducted by a mysterious organization who has their own nefarious agenda prompting Mark Russell to team up with Monarch in order to rescue his family.

The scene in the teaser could be a glimpse from when the pair were kidnapped and going by the preview it looks like a full-length trailer of director Michael Dougherty's sequel is on its way. With newer superspecies on the rise, it remains to be seen how the fight for supremacy pans out.

"The new story follows the heroic efforts of the cryptozoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of God-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient superspecies, thought to be mere myths, rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity's very existence hanging in the balance," the official synopsis teased.

As hinted before, Godzilla is not the only beast out there, in the sequel the titular behemoth would definitely be joined by a host of new monsters.

“Rodan’s been kind of a sidekick character, but I’ve always had a soft spot for him. In a lot of ways, he’s more powerful than Godzilla. He’s like this winged A-bomb. I think we’ve done him justice,” hinted Dougherty adding a little teaser about our main hero and his powers, "atomic breath".

'Godzilla: King of the Monsters' arrives in theaters on May 31, 2019 but before that watch out for an SDCC trailer release.
