‘GMA’ meteorologist Ginger Zee faces backlash for promoting robotic thermal mannequin, trolls say 'waste of money'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ‘Good Morning America’ meteorologist Ginger Zee has once again landed herself on the wrong side of the online trolls. The 42-year-old was only doing her job, promoting a new weather-predicting technology that could save lives but unfortunately, the trolls were not so kind to her.
In one of her recent Instagram posts, the ‘GMA’ meteorologist spoke about the first thermal mannequin that can provide data and metrics about rising temperatures and help save lives.
Despite Zee’s best efforts to spread awareness about a breakthrough technology in the arena of meteorology, fans, and trolls were livid at the ‘GMA’ star for propagating false stories to gain more traction.
Ginger Zee introduces ANDI, the first thermal mannequin to her followers
Zee has been reporting on the excessive heat outages across the US over the past few weeks. Her consistent reports on the issue have met with some criticisms but that was all surpassed when she posted a clip, elucidating a new technology to her fans and followers.
In the short clip, Zee spoke about how ANDI, the first thermal mannequin will absorb the heat when put in extreme temperatures and reveal how people react to excessive heat.
As per Zee, this will help us gather data and allow us to make better strategies to help people in times of heat waves. She explained in her post, “Meet ANDI - the first thermal mannequin that can be studied outside - it can simulate all demographics and even folks on medication.

Zee further added, “They are hoping the data they compile will save lives as more than 1700 people died last year alone because of heat-related illness and the number keeps going up. #heat #andi @dmanzo1013 *heat is the number one weather killer (more than a tornado, hurricane, flooding…)”
Zee’s noble effort to inform the public was lauded at first but a few trolls were hiding in plain sight and bombarded the comment section with their theories and questions.
‘A waste of money hate to say it’
Some trolls who appeared at first to be Zee’s followers shot down all her hard work with insensitive comments. One wrote, “A waste of money hate to say it. And to say for all demographics you are just using woke talking points. There is no way for it to reach all demographics there are too many variables. Also, most people don't go to the ER or call for help. Such a waste of money when it could be used for other research.”
A second said, “So they need a mannequin to tell people to hydrate and stay cool in the hot weather we have apparently lost all common sense and need computers to think for us.”
A third stated, “Can’t believe you could go on this post with a straight face. You’re a grown woman wake up and do the research. They are manipulating weather on purpose and you’re a part of it.”
A fourth mocked her and said, “Don’t let them manipulate you Ginger, you have children one day you may have grandchildren fight for them.” While a fifth simply asked, “Are you ok?”
