‘GMA’ host Robin Roberts and Amber Laign share dress shopping and cake-tasting sneak peek with fans ahead of wedding
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ‘Good Morning America’ star Robin Roberts has taken the viewers behind the scenes of her dress shopping and cake tasting ahead of her upcoming wedding to long-time partner Amber Laign.
On the Monday, August 28 episode of ‘GMA’, Roberts revealed major details about her wedding ceremony which is in less than two weeks.
The special segment which aired a small clip from Roberts’ outing with Laign was a little too emotional for the ‘GMA’ star to bear as she tried to control her tears while speaking about her wedding ceremony.
It was co-host Gio Benitez who introduced the special segment which featured the brief clip in which Roberts and her partner Laign can be seen trying the wedding dress and tasting the cake for the ceremony.
‘GMA’ host Robin Roberts gives fans a glimpse of her wedding preparations
Roberts’ co-host Benitez introduced a clip of her and her partner’s “road to the ring.”
T-minus a couple of months,” Robin said at the dress fitting, which took place back in June, at the start of the video.
Mark Badgley and James Mischka designed Roberts’ and Laign’s wedding dresses as the ‘GMA’ host appeared on the verge of tears when she looked at the gowns.
Fans could see a few snippets from the time when Roberts and Laign were trying on the dresses but the final versions have been kept a secret until the big day. Their dress pieces were covered up by virtual flowers to hide them from viewers.
Roberts revealed that she and Amber would do their final fittings separately as she wanted them to see each other in their completed looks for the first time on their wedding day.
In a confessional for the ‘GMA’ cameras, Robin shared, “It’s been fun watching sweet Amber. Just watching her get emotional and having fun and giggling.
However Amber later stated, “I never really thought I would be doing this. Just having it all unfold, discovering parts of myself I didn’t really know were there, it’s been fun.”
After the dress fitting, the couple were attending a tasting with cake designer Vincenzo Salvatore.

After the end of the clip, the focus returned to Roberts in the studio. Her co-hosts asked about her “favorite part” of the whole process.
Roberts choked up, tried to control her tears, and said, “Watching Amber. She is just– I’m sorry. She is just– we are just deliriously happy. And going through all that we both have gone through– Sorry, I start getting emotional.”
She later continued, “But thank you to our viewers. Thank you to people for their well-wishes. They know what we’ve been through, and they’re having fun with us. And that’s why we’re sharing as much as we are.”
Roberts and Laign are expected to get married over the Labor Day weekend.
