‘GMA’ fans in awe as Ginger Zee faces Hurricane Lee with ‘outstanding’ crew

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: ‘Good Morning America’ meteorologist Ginger Zee has taken her adventures up a notch with her recent daring antic of co-piloting a plane into Hurricane Lee with her “outstanding” crew.

The 42-year-old is a true adventure seeker and is renowned for reporting from unconventional places and her latest stunt of flying an aircraft to report on Hurricane Lee, a building storm, has only reaffirmed her reputation.

Zee took to Instagram to share her experience, telling her fans that she “flew” into Hurricane Lee on a Lockheed WP-3D Orion plane. The plane she flew on was nicknamed Kermit by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

‘GMA’ Ginger Zee soars high by flying a light aircraft into Hurricane Lee

The ‘GMA’ meteorologist took on a new adventure recently when she decided to co-pilot a plane for the NOAA to study and report on Hurricane Lee.

Zee shared a few snaps on her Instagram where she can be seen in the cockpit, ecstatic and smiling for the camera with the riveting blue sky in the background.

The snap also had a Kermit stuff toy hanging in the cockpit as Zee co-piloted the light aircraft with an NOAA pilot.

Zee shared a brief clip detailing that she “got to sit in the cockpit” and “co-pilot” the aircraft. She praised NOAA for their groundbreaking work in collecting “critical data” on hurricanes and was thrilled to be a part of their adventure.

Zee captioned her post, “Just about 5 hours ago I got off the @flynoaa Hurricane Hunter P30 called Kermit - we flew into hurricane #Lee- with their outstanding crew.”

She added, “I have always respected their work but MY GOODNESS… their critical data from storms does not come easy. And yes, they even let me fly Kermit. See the adventure & #Lee forecast on @goodmorningamerica … also I got to try flying it!”

‘GMA’ Ginger Zee documented her entire journey of flying with NOAA

Zee documented her story from meeting the officials at NOAA to receiving the basic training when flying into a hurricane and all other related tutorials attached to it.

She showed her fans the airport hangar where the Hurricane Hunters were parked before takeoff and then played clips of herself on the aircraft, talking and gathering information from the NOAA officials.

Zee was excited to be in the cockpit and also gave her fans a glimpse of the Hurricane when the aircraft neared the storm.

The ‘GMA’ meteorologist also showed off her snacks which she brought onboard for a seven-hour flight. She landed safely and told her fans, “We made it. I puked three times but we made it.”

Fans call ‘GMA’ Ginger Zee a ‘total badass’ for co-piloting an aircraft

‘GMA’ fans were stunned after witnessing Zee co-pilot an aircraft and take on yet another tricky adventure. One fan praised her and called her, a “total bada**.”

A second said, “So cool! What a bucket list experience girl!” while a third wrote, “So happy you got to experience that! From tornado chasing, to flying into a hurricane- you touch nature at its wildest!!!!”

A fourth added, “You have the best job and you do it so well!!!” A fifth added, “That’s an Outstanding Performance by You Ginger. And amazing to watch, thank you for what you do to inform us !!!” 

Another fan of her also wrote, “How cool. You're everywhere!”
