GMA's Robin Roberts takes on first leg of NYC marathon, shares sweet snap of wife Amber Laign supporting her
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: ‘Good Morning America’ star Robin Roberts made the most of her weekend as she participated in the New York City Marathon on Sunday, November 5.
The 62-year-old completed the impressive feat of “running the first leg” of the marathon as she shook hands with other participants after finishing her race.
Roberts was joined by many of her other co-stars like Ginger Zee, Deborah Roberts, and DeMarco Morgan but she posted about her biggest support who was present to cheer her. It was her wife Amber Laign.
The 2023 New York City Marathon is the 52nd edition of the annual marathon race. It is a platinum-label marathon, stretching through all five boroughs of the city.

‘GMA’ host Robin Roberts runs first leg of NYC Marathon for non-profit organization
The 'GMA' star provided a sneak peek of herself participating in a marathon, wearing a neon-colored shirt, a blue cap, and black leggings. She ran the initial segment of the marathon as a member of the ABC News relay team.
Roberts successfully completed her part of the marathon and passed the baton to Will Reeve.
She bid the next group of runners all the luck and later posted a clip on Instagram.
The ‘GMA’ host informed her followers that all members of ABC News were running for a non-profit organization named, Team for Kids, a dedicated group raising funds for youth programs in NYC.
Roberts captioned her post, “Had the honor of running the first leg of @abcnews relay in the @nycmarathon, passing the baton to @willreeve_! We’re running for a fabulous organization @teamforkids that raises funds for youth programs.”

She continued, “Grateful to members of the team who ran the 3 miles with me, their encouragement got me over the hump which was the steep Verrazzano Bridge! Good Luck to all the runners today!"

The ‘GMA’ star recently got married to her long-time partner Amber Laign in September 2023.
The duo has been inseparable with both supporting each other's decisions at all times. When Roberts ran the NYC marathon, Laign was present to lend her support to her wife.
Roberts acknowledged the constant support of her wife with a snap of them, walking hand in hand with their backs turned to the camera. Turns out, Laign was Roberts’ biggest cheerleader on the day.
Showing all the love for her wife, Laign, the ‘GMA’ star captioned the post, “Always there to support each other! #marathonsunday #SweetAmber #maritalbliss."
