Comedian George Lopez is clearly not a fan of Donald Trump and sparked outrage from conservatives for making a joke about assassinating Trump.

The 58-year-old made the controversial joke on Sunday as he was responding to a post on Instagram. The post was about an unfounded rumor that stated that Iran had placed an $80 million bounty on Trump after the US airstrike that killed Iranian Maj. Gen. Qassem Soleimani.

Chicano Worldstar shared in a post, "#Iranian authorities have put a bounty on American President Donald Trump’s head during the televised funeral of General #QasemSoleimani after he was assassinated last week. What are your thoughts?" Lopez had replied to the post saying, "We’ll do it for half."

The post that had been shared on Sunday, saw Lopez's comment gaining more than 2,600 likes as of Monday afternoon. However, not everyone was a fan of the comment. One social media user commented saying, "you should go to prison for that comment" while another user shared, "Not good. For all its worth, he’s still the Prez of the U.S.A."

A third person chimed in, "To everyone on this post saying that you will do it or something similar... now you can be charged as by the law as a traitor or a terrorist... so choose what you say on social media." Many others had tagged the 'FBI' and the 'CIA' and also President Trump himself in the post.

Many people also started the hashtag ' #ArrestGeorgeLopez' after his comment started to go viral. Lopez has openly been a critic of Trump and has often taken to social media to express his dislike for Trump.

Fellow comedian Kathy Griffin had also received a lot of backlash after joking about killing the commander in chief in 2017. Griffin had shared a picture of herself with a fake 'beheaded' Trump. She eventually apologized for the picture and said that she went "way too far."
