Gavin Rossdale says he and ex-wife Gwen Stefani don't 'really co-parent' because of opposing views
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Gavin Rossdale is certain that he raises his children differently than his ex-wife American musician, Gwen Stefani. The reason for this is that Rossdale acknowledged earlier this week that he and Stefani do not co-parent since they are "really different people." The Bush frontman stated to 'Not So Hollywood' podcast listeners on June 15 that he and his ex-wife are "really different" individuals with "opposing views."
According to previous rumors, the two are at odds with one another which is making it "impossible" for Stefani and Rossdale to co-parent their kids. The Bush frontman, 57, and the 'Rich Girl' singer, 53, had been married for 13 years before Stefani filed for divorce in 2015, citing the celebrity favorite "irreconcilable differences." Kingston, 16, Zuma, 14, and Apollo, 9, are the former couple's three children, and they currently share shared custody of them. Reportedly, their kids are, nevertheless, suffering as a result of their disputes. "Gavin continues to make it impossible to co-parent with Gwen Stefani. And their three kids are suffering," a source told Radar Online at the time.
'We’re really different people'
On the 'Not So Hollywood' podcast, the Bush frontman was open about how he and Stefani approach parenting. Initially, he and Stefani intended to co-parent after their 2016 divorce. It became immediately apparent that the two had quite different parenting and household management styles.
Rossdale and Stefani share a similar trait in that they both desire the best for their kids. However, the "similarity" ceases when it comes to parenting children. Rossdale explained on the podcast, "I think you can go one of two ways. You can either do everything together and really co-parent and see how that goes, or you can just parent. And I think we just parent," as per Page Six.
The 57-year-old continued, "We’re really different people, so I don’t think there’s many similarities in the way we bring them up, but I think that gives them an incredible perspective to then choose which pieces of those two lives they’d like to inherit and move on with and which part of themselves come out of the whole process."

Rossdale added, "Because that’s what’s important is to give them a wide view of things and we definitely have some particularly opposing views so I think it’d be really helpful for them to make their own minds as individuals." Rossdale, however, is not always pleased with Stefani's parenting practices, particularly when her husband Blake Shelton is involved, per insider information.

Gavin Rossdale feels 'overshadowed' by Blake Shelton
Rossdale is the father of 34-year-old model Daisy Lowe along with his three sons with Stefani. Stefani remarried Blake Shelton, a fellow 'Voice' judge after her divorce from Rossdale was legally finalized in 2016. Shelton previously said, "I feel like my regrets would be, if I stayed on this path, that I am missing out on some more important things in life — and for now, that’s our kids."
Even though these are kind words, Rossdale reportedly felt "overshadowed" by the country singer's prominence in the kids' lives - a reality that can make co-parenting more challenging overall. "Gavin is trying very hard to parent alongside Gwen, but he wants to make it perfectly clear he is the father of their sons, not Blake," the source said. "Gavin is trying very hard to parent alongside Gwen," the insider added. "Gavin wants to lay down some ground rules. He’s gotten ticked off at Blake in the past for seemingly overstepping his bounds, and is ready to make it clear he has final authority with the boys," the insider added.

'The kids are always stuck in the middle'
Rossdale is also alleged to have made little effort to get to know the country music singer's stepfather of his sons. The insider claims that the British rocker has never actually met Shelton "beyond waving hi" or even properly hanging out with him. The insider stated, "It's really strange," and continued, "The kids are always stuck in the middle, and it's truly sad." Additionally, it was stated that Rossdale allegedly "won't allow" Stefani from taking her sons to Shelton's ranch in Oklahoma, "where they are all the happiest."
