'Game of Thrones' stars Kit Harington and Rose Leslie welcome their second child
LONDON, ENGLAND: The 'Game of Thrones' stars Kit Harington and Rose Leslie have welcomed a baby girl, their second child together, after having a son in 2021 during the pandemic.
Their representative confirmed the happy news to People on Monday and said that Harington and Leslie are "delighted to have welcomed a little girl into the family." The pair, who played Jon Snow and Ygritte on the hit HBO show, tied the knot in 2018 and announced their first pregnancy in September 2020.
"It does make you focus on what is important, I think'
However, they are private about their personal lives, but they have occasionally shared glimpses of their parenthood journey. In February 2021, they were spotted with their newborn son in London, as reported by USA Today. The couple was also seen with their son in London in February 2023, and Harington was seen carrying him on his shoulders while Leslie walked beside them, according to Hollywood Life.
In May 2021, Harington told E! News that he was enjoying being a father and spending time with his family during the pandemic. "It does make you focus on what is important, I think," he said before adding "It makes you very emotional as well. Weirdly, it affects your work. It affects everything because you're suddenly filled with this new level of love that you didn't have before."
'About to get the shock of his life'
Apart from that, Harington recently opened up about his son and how he is preparing him for becoming a big brother. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight in March, ahead of his Apple TV+ series Extrapolations, he said that his son is "about to get the shock of his life," when they bring home his new sister.
"I don't know if he's really conceptually understood anything yet," Harington said of his son. "He's just loving life. My boy loves life." He also revealed that he and Leslie were expecting their second child during a February appearance on 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon' while sharing an update on the couple’s son. "We point to Rose's tummy and we say, 'Mommy's baby.' And he points at his tummy and goes, 'My baby.' I'm quite sure that's — yeah, you'll know soon enough."
'There were scary bits about it'
Harington and Leslie's first child was born during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in February of 2021. "There were scary bits about it," Harington explained of having a "COVID-baby," to USA Today. "Rose went into labor during the lockdown, and you're always worried you're not going to be by their side as a birth partner. But luckily, I was and you get through (it). Hopefully, I'll be able to tell my son about it when he's old enough to understand," the 'Game of Thrones' star said. So fat, the couple has not revealed the name of their newborn daughter yet, according to several sources.
