Who’s Returning for NCIS: Origins Season 3? Full Cast List and Exit Revealed
Returning: Austin Stowell
If it was Mark Harmon who became a household staple for playing Jethro Gibbs in NCIS, Austin Stowell has made a case for himself as the younger version of the iconic character Leroy Jethro Gibbs. A newcomer to the Pendleton branch of the Naval Investigative Service, a precursor to NCIS, Gibbs' character had a new layer with Stowell's portrayal.
Returning: Kyle Schmid
Another major character set to reprise his role is Kyle Schmid, who returns as Mike Franks in Season 3. Seasoned and astute as the leader of the team, Franks will be one of the major focus points as the team heads towards a restructure.
Returning: Mariel Molino
A former Marine with spunk and determination to succeed, Mariel Molino's Lala Dominguez is also set to return for the new season. Her romantic arc with Gibbs will be one of the storylines for Season 3 after the former finally confesses his true feelings towards her.
Returning: Tyla Abercrombie
Field Operation Support Officer Mary Jo Hayes returns to action as well in NCIS: Origins Season 3. Tyla Abercrombie's character battled an involuntary transfer this season, but her value to the team in solving a case showed why she deserved to be part of the special unit. It will be interesting to see what the next challenge will be for Hayes in the new season.
Returning: Caleb Foote
Benjamin “Randy” Randolf's unexplained fate in the Season 2 finale sets up a tantalizing new season. Last seen, Foote's character was kidnapped after he was shown to be organizing evidence. Finding Randy will likely be the season 3 opening episode's plotline. "He was entering all the past cases, and then when he’s hopped up on the caffeine, he talks about how he finished that and is now digitizing all of the evidence logs,” co-showrunner Gina Lucita Monreal told in an interview. "All the evidence across the entire agency, he’s helping to put into one location, and that act is what we think gets him in trouble. And how that all transpires and what exactly was the tipping point that made him a person of interest for whoever took him, we don’t know that yet."
Not Returning: Gina Lucita Monreal
The new season will be without a key figure: Gina Lucita Monreal, who served as the co-showrunner alongside David J. North. Per reports, Monreal exited the series to focus on spending quality time with her family. "First of all, I’m just so grateful to have been part of this for two seasons," she told in an interview. "This has really been such an honor and a highlight of my career. Just getting to work with David, my bestie, I’m just so excited to see what he comes up with for next season. The show could not be in more capable hands. I am going to take a much-needed break and have some quality time with my family."
