Little House on the Prairie Season 2: All the Stars Returning and Leaving as Netflix Renews Reboot
Alice Halsey
Little House on the Prairie Season 2 wouldn't exist without Laura Ingalls, and yes, Alice Halsey is coming back to play everyone's favorite spirited pioneer girl. Laura is curious, fearless, and never afraid to question the grown-ups around her. She's more interested in “running barefoot and feeling the sun on her face” than acting like a proper lady, and that's exactly what makes her so lovable. Fiercely loyal to her family and devoted to her dog, Jack, Laura's big heart and even bigger personality are sure to bring plenty more adventures in the next chapter.
Skywalker Hughes
Skywalker Hughes is also returning as Mary Ingalls, Laura's older sister and complete opposite in just about every way. While Laura is wild and adventurous, Mary is the quiet rule-follower who's always trying to be “the good daughter.” Netflix describes her as someone who finds “the sun is too hot, the snow is too cold” and would rather spend her time with “pretty ribbons, reading poetry, and long afternoons sewing.” The sisters may clash like oil and water, but that's part of the fun. They argue often, sure, but when it really counts, they've always got each other's backs.
Luke Bracey
Luke Bracey will be back as Charles “Pa” Ingalls, the lovable father of Laura and Mary, in Season 2. Netflix describes him as the “original girl dad,” and honestly, it fits. Charles is a farmer, trapper, carpenter, and even an artist, always looking on the bright side as “an optimist, always glass half-full.” He's also a dreamer who's forever searching for “greener pastures.” Add in his talents as “a poet, a musician, and a skilled storyteller,” and it's easy to see why he's such a fan favorite. He won Caroline's heart by carrying her three miles through the snow to a winter dance. Swoon.
Crosby Fitzgerald
Crosby Fitzgerald is set to return as Caroline “Ma” Ingalls in Season 2, bringing back the calm, steady presence that holds the Ingalls family together. While she's patient and practical, Netflix says Caroline also has a “core of steel.” Her love story with Charles is still one of the sweetest parts of the series, and the streamer notes they “fell deeply in love” and that their romance is still going strong. Caroline also has a “playful, romantic side,” but she's always the one making sure the family stays on track.
Willa Dunn
Season 2 is bringing in a new character: Nellie Oleson, and Willa Dunn is taking on the iconic role. If you've read Laura Ingalls Wilder's books or watched the original series, you already know she's about to become Laura's biggest rival. Showrunner Rebecca Sonnenshine teased the arrival while speaking to Tudum, saying, “As you see by the end of the first season, they are en route to Walnut Grove and to meet the Oleson family.” Nellie was first introduced in Laura's novel On the Banks of Plum Creek and was famously played by Alison Arngrim in the classic TV adaptation.
