‘Scrubs’ Season 2 Cast: All the Major Stars Returning and Leaving ABC’s Medical Comedy

If there's one cast member you never had to worry about, it's Zach Braff. He's officially back as Dr. John “J.D.” Dorian for the second season of the Scrubs revival. After all, J.D. has been the face of the series since the original premiered in 2001. He guided fans through nine seasons with his hilarious inner monologues, big heart, and unforgettable imagination, while Braff also directed several episodes along the way. He returned when the revival debuted in February, and now he's ready to put the scrubs back on once again. Some things are just meant to stay the same.

Donald Faison is scrubbing back in too! He's officially returning as Dr. Christopher Turk for the revival's second season. Faison played the fan-favorite surgeon throughout all nine seasons of the original series, making Turk one of the show's most beloved characters. And let's be real, you can't have J.D. without Turk. Their legendary bromance has always been one of Scrubs' biggest highlights, so fans can look forward to plenty more laughs, heartwarming moments, and best-friend antics when the new season arrives. Season 2 or Season 11? Call it whatever you like, but the duo is back together.

The Scrubs dream team wouldn't feel complete without Sarah Chalke, and yes, she's officially returning as Dr. Elliot Reid as a series regular in Season 2. After starring throughout the original series, Chalke also came back for the ABC revival. But fans got quite the shock when the new timeline revealed that Elliot and J.D. had divorced before the revival began. Surprisingly, Chalke is totally on board with that twist. As she told PEOPLE, “I think having them be divorced was such a great way in, because if they're happy and they're just fine, there's not a lot of room for comedy and drama in that.” She added, “There's much more room to play when they're figuring out how to be around each other.”

Not everyone is making the return trip to Sacred Heart. Joel Kim Booster's Dr. Eric Park won't be back for Scrubs Season 2, meaning fans can say goodbye to one of the revival's standout recurring characters. Booster appeared in six of the first season's nine episodes after debuting in the February premiere. His character found himself butting heads with J.D. after being passed over for the chief of medicine position. Sure, they occasionally managed to work together, but their competitive streak kept things entertaining. This time around, though, Park won't be roaming the hospital halls.

Another familiar face saying goodbye is X Mayo. She won't be returning for Scrubs Season 2 after playing Charge Nurse Raymond in the revival's first season. Mayo first appeared in Episode 2 and became a fun recurring presence, showing up in six of the season's nine episodes. While her fellow charge nurse, Francois Dubois (Michael James Scott), is sticking around for more, Raymond won't be back at Sacred Heart this time. So yes, the hospital is losing one of its memorable staff members as the revival gears up for another season.

As a couple of characters head out, Neil Flynn is getting a bigger role, and that's a win for longtime fans. The actor returned as the iconic Janitor in the Scrubs revival, but only popped up for one guest appearance during Season 1. That changes next season. Flynn has been bumped up to a recurring guest role, which means fans can expect plenty more of his hilarious antics around Sacred Heart. This is the kind of upgrade Scrubs fans can definitely get behind.

Rachel Bilson is also sticking around for more! She made her Scrubs debut in the revival's first season as Charlie, a "beautiful and elusive visitor" to Sacred Heart who instantly caught fans' attention. Her role was fairly small the first time around, but that's about to change. Bilson has been promoted to a recurring role for Season 2, meaning Charlie will be getting much more screen time.
