LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Following the death of actress Angela Lansbury at the age of 96 on October 11, tributes have been pouring in for the iconic star, who was best known for ‘Murder, She Wrote’ and ‘Beauty and the Beast,’ among decades of work on the silver screen. The tribute included a number of Hollywood celebs who recalled their memories with her, with Uzo Aduba saying, “she was always one of us.”

The death of Lansbury, who was a five-time Tony Award winner, recipient of an honorary Oscar, multiple Golden Globe winner and a 12-time Emmy nominee, was confirmed by family in a statement. It read, as quoted by Metro, "The children of Dame Angela Lansbury are sad to announce that their mother died peacefully in her sleep at home in Los Angeles at 1.30 am today, Tuesday, October 11, 2022, just five days shy of her 97th birthday." Known for her acclaimed roles in films like 1962’s 'The Manchurian Candidate' and 'Gaslight' in 1944 for which she received her first Oscar nomination at the age of 19. Late Queen Elizabeth bestowed the DBE (Dame Commander of the British Empire) honor on Lansbury during a ceremony at Windsor Castle in 2014.

After the demise of Lansbury, whose cause of death has not been confirmed, actor Eric McCormack, known for NBC sitcom 'Will & Grace,' recollected his time with Lansbury on Gore Vidal's 'The Best Man' in 2012. He wrote, "So privileged I got to spend time with this incredible woman. No one like her." Jesse Tyler Ferguson shared an encounter he had with the late actress. He wrote, "I'll never forget sitting next to Angela Lansbury at an opening night. Even though I had to pee I refused to leave my seat during intermission. I spent the 15 minutes chatting with her instead. She was incredibly lovely and I'm so glad I had that brief time with her. RIP Angela."

Sharing a throwback photo, 'Orange is the new Black' star Uzo Aduba tweeted by saying, "2012. And this VERY excited #theaterkid got to meet her, after one of our shows at Godspell. She poured so much love into each of us. An icon of the stage, and legend across so many mediums but, we all knew…she was always one of us :). Thank you, Angela Lansbury. Thank you." While Josh Gad mentioned Lansbury's Tony Award-winning performance of Mame Dennis in his tribute. He said, "It is rare that one person can touch multiple generations, creating a breadth of work that defines decade after decade. #AngelaLansbury was that artist. From “Mame” to “Bedknobs” to “Murder She Wrote” to “B&TB” to “Mary Poppins Returns” she touched 4 generations. RIP Legend."

George Takei also wrote a touching tribute to Lansbury, sharing her role as Jessica Fletcher on 'Murder, She Wrote'. He said, "Angela Lansbury, who graced the stage for decades winning five Tony awards and brought the sleuthing Jessica Fletcher into our living rooms for a dozen years, has passed. A tale old as time, our beloved Mrs. Potts will sing lullabies to us now from the stars. Rest, great soul." On the other hand, actor Harvey Fierstein tweeted, "Angela Lansbury - She, my darlings, was EVERYTHING!" Jason Alexander, who appeared in 'Seinfeld', said, "The great Angela Lansbury - one of the most versatile, talented, graceful, kind, witty, wise, classy ladies I’ve ever met has left us. Her huge contribution to the arts and the world remains always."
