'Feels like a parody': Lawyer explains what Young Thug's name means amid RICO trial and Internet is in splits
ATLANTA, GEORGIA: As the RICO trial of rapper Jefferey Williams - better known by his stage name Young Thug - began on Monday, November 27, his lawyer stole the show by announcing the real meaning of the 'Go crazy' singer's name.
In a clip that went viral, the lawyer can be seen saying that the second half of Williams' stage name is an acronym for the phrase "Truly Humbled Under God."
As the clip gained traction online, the Internet was left in splits with the purported meaning of the name.

What is Young Thug accused of?
Per New York Times, the prosecutors argued that Young Thug’s YSL, or Young Slime Life, is a faction of the Williams-led 'Bloods', which operated on the national level.
Williams is accused of ordering and overseeing crimes including murder, attempted murder, armed robbery, witness intimidation, and drug dealing.
The rapper has pleaded not guilty and denied all the charges. All his pleas for bail were rejected before and he has spent 567 days behind bars until Monday.
Internet doesn't buy Young Thug's lawyer's claim
Despite the lawyer's proclamation of the meaning behind the rapper's name, the Internet isn't really buying it. Most social media users are of the opinion that it is nothing but a "parody."
One of the fans said, "This feels like a parody."
"He made that up QUICK," said someone else.
Another social media user shared a meme mimicking the judge's reaction after knowing the actual name, "“Young Thug” means: "Truly Humbled Under God. The judge:"

Young Thug's sister shares the meaning behind his name
Even though a section of the Internet believes the lawyer made up the name instantly in the courthouse, this is not really the case.
The singer's biological sister Dora Williams took to her social media in December 2022 to share the meaning of Williams' stage name.
In a post, Dora shared, "THUG = TRULY. HUMBLE, UNDER. GOD. YOUNG TRULY HUMBLE UNDER GOD. YOUNG-THUG📜."

'You’re pushing positivity'
Earlier, the lawyer also allegedly said that the “P” in Young Thug & Gunna’s hit track 'Pushin P' embodies the phrase “Pushing Positivity.”
The lawyer purportedly said, “It means, any circumstance you’re in, if you think positively about something, you can make it through. You’re pushing positivity.”
