MANCHESTER, UK: Blocked players Brett Robinson and Xanthi Perdikomatis built a fake identity on 'The Circle' Season 5 to win $150,000 a second time. Angry fans instantly flocked to social media to voice their dismay, pushing the producers to abandon the idea of giving expelled contestants a second shot and instead bringing in new players in their place.

On Wednesday, December 28, Netflix released the first four episodes of Season 5 of 'The Circle,' and things are already getting serious on the series. Both Xanthi and Brett entered the game as themselves, but that did not last long. After just a day at the Circle apartments, the two became victims of an instant blockade that threatened to drive them out. Following a quick MCQ quiz on each other's personalities, Xanthi and Brett were blocked by influencers Chaz Lawary and Raven Sutton, respectively. Raven evicted Brett because she did not connect with him on a personal level. Chaz chose to ban Xanthi since he could not connect with the Greek model, who had lied about her employment and claimed to be a teacher. However, the game did not let them leave that easily. Rather, the two early outs were whisked into a new two-bedroom apartment and told they could continue to play together as Jennifer, a 51-year-old dog trainer. They both obviously leaped at the chance to stay in the game.

Brett and Xanthi both prepared phony "show leaving videos" and distributed them to the other candidates before returning to the program as "Jennifer" and creating a phony profile.

Even though Brett and Xanthi seemed happy to have gotten the second chance, viewers were definitely not. One Twitter user wrote, "Got back on twitter just to say that Xanthi and Brett have ruined this season of the circle lol.. I can’t tell y’all how quick the smile left my face when they got a second chance. Should have just sent them homeeee." Another person asked, "Why did they give Brett a second chance." Suggesting how they could be bringing in new people instead of giving eliminated players second chance, another viewer tweeted, "When the circle allow eliminated people to get a “second chance” it burns me out.. like they’ve been voted out. Bring in new people." This also did not help as both Brett and Xanthi were not exactly on the popularity list of the viewers either, "I knew they would get a second chance but now I hate that two of the people I hate the most are still in the Circle."

After making a comeback, Brett and Xanthi adopted a more strategic approach. However, a fan tweeted, "Brett and Xanthi using their catfish to only gun for Raven when Chaz also eliminated one of them and was an influencer again too. It’s giving misogynoir." Some fans are also predicting, "Are we going to have to watch Brett + Xanthi flirt now." Calling the duo "staged," a person tweeted, "Brett and Xanthi together seems so staged. He's a terrible actor. "I don't even know what more you want from me." Right. Okay. The self-proclaimed guy who says he's hot for everyone else... Has nothing left to give. Ok." Bored with the same twists, a viewer wrote, "I’m not surprised Brett and Xanthi get to play the game as one now. Anytime they block two at once so early they never go home. They need to change up the twists."

After re-entering 'The Circle' as Jennifer in episode 2, Brett and Xanthi wasted no time in making contact with another new contestant, Tom Horton. Brett and Xanthi won a flirty messaging contest against Tom and were awarded the option to go on a virtual date with anyone on the program without the use of video calling. They both agreed to go on a date with Tom, who had no idea he was actually speaking to two individuals. Jennifer and Tom decided on that occasion to organize a boys-only and girls-only club to acquire all available information about others.

The following four episodes of the popular Netflix series will be released on January 4 at 3:01 a.m. ET.
