Did the Emmys snub the Queen? Royal fans slam absence from 'In Memoriam' segment
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The Emmy Awards were handed out at a live ceremony in downtown Los Angeles on Monday, September 12. The annual awards hosted by Kenan Thompson at the Microsoft Theater saw several repeat winners, along with quite a few surprising upsets. But royal fans were most upset by the absence of the late Queen Elizabeth II in the 'In Memoriam' section.
While the Emmys paid tribute to many late stars like Betty White, Bob Saget, Anne Heche, Paul Sorvino, Ray Liotta, Sidney Poitier and more, they didn't mention the death of Queen Elizabeth II; the snub was not taken lightly by many who immediately took to Twitter to slam the Emmys.

Multiple actors were honoured during the remembrance ceremony, which featured a performance by John Legend. But the academy didn't get the memo of Queen Elizabeth II who died last week at age 96.
Tributes from all over the world are still pouring in, including celebrities paying their respects and segments on late-night shows. Several international monuments were also turned into memorials for the monarch, including the New York Stock Exchange and a Times Square billboard. Even American sports honored the Queen with their tributes. The Yankees showed her picture on the scoreboard in The Bronx during a game last week. The NFL also observed a moment of silence before its season opener; shockingly UFC also paid tribute to the Queen although the reaction from the crowd was not pleasant.
But for some reason, the Emmy Awards failed to pay tribute to the Queen. Fans immedietly took to social media to complain that the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards did not honor the Queen during their 'In Memoriam' ceremony.
Stand-up comedian Matt Goldich tweeted, "Wow so they're just gonna leave Queen Elizabeth out of the Emmys In Memoriam?" @drewbdoobdoo1 wrote, "SNUBBED AT THE EMMYS: the queen during in memoriam".

While the Emmys forgot about the Queen, a few actors took a moment to reflect on the Queen's death and shared what the end of her historic royal reign meant to them. 'Ted Lasso' star Hannah Waddingham said on the red carpet, "It makes me emotional to think about it." She said they even paused filming season 3 of 'Ted Lasso' out of respect.
'Yellowjackets' star Melanie Lynskey also spoke about the Queen's death. "It's so sad. I feel for her family, I feel for anyone's family who loses someone," she said.
