'Stealing his thunder?': King Charles' coronation date to coincide with grandson Archie's fourth birthday

LONDON, UK: As it was announced on Tuesday, October 11 that King Charles will be crowned on Saturday, May 6, 2023, many pointed out that this date coincides with another important day, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor’s birthday.
The eldest child of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will turn four on that day. It is unclear if Harry and Meghan will travel to the UK with their children to attend Charles’ coronation. While the selection of the date is likely a coincidence, some have called out the King and accused him of “stealing the spotlight” from his grandson.

Social media users have decided to share their own insights. One user wrote, “Bro these people can't even sign and date some contracts without breaking down. As if it occurs to them to check any calendars. They consider themselves the most important they expect OTHERS to plan around their lives." Another added, "Did no one check a calendar before they settled on a date? They have a private secretary for this reason." A third chimed in, "Once again the monarchy and handlers prove their disconnect from 'family', loyalty, soulfulness, and reality of the modern age. They continue to set the worst example of 'family values', good stewardship and right action for the world to see."

Others thought it was admirable that the coronation will be held on Archie’s birthday. A user said, "Fantastic! It’ll be the day we celebrate Archie’s birthday with parties and banners!! It’ll be fantastic!!" Another commented, "May 6 is a dignified tribute to an historic event. The ascension of King George V to the throne on May 6, 1910. Not about a phantom child’s birthday. Of course a duo will try to make it about a birthday via media."

Meanwhile, Buckingham Palace in a statement said, “Buckingham Palace is pleased to announce that the coronation of His Majesty The King will take place on Saturday 6 May 2023.The coronation ceremony will take place at Westminster Abbey, London, and will be conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury."
The statement added, “The ceremony will see His Majesty King Charles III crowned alongside the Queen Consort. The coronation will reflect the monarch’s role today and look towards the future, while being rooted in long standing traditions and pageantry.”
Meanwhile, earlier this year, a book titled 'The Palace Papers: Inside the House of Windsor' shed light on how the 73-year-old insisted on bringing his own things when he visits his friends' country homes. Author Tina Brown claimed that Charles brought his own toilet seat and bed alongside other things.
Brown, who has also written the 2007 biography of Princess Diana, wrote that a truck would arrive with his “orthopaedic bed, lavatory seat and Kleenex Velvet lavatory paper." Charles' former aide Michael Fawcett also ensured that his bedroom had the landscape paintings that were brought with the things. Fawcett had the task of bringing the former Prince of Wales' childhood teddy bear in a plastic bag on the trips.
