12-year-old lay dying for two hours under collapsed garage wall, father rescued alive
ESSEX, ENGLAND: A boy who was tragically crushed by a falling wall reportedly lay dying under the wreckage for two hours before his mother discovered the situation when she summoned him for supper. Scott-Swaley Danil Stevens was discovered dead by his mother Charmaine Lee on the night of Friday, October 21, at his home in Essex. Reports said the 12-year-old and his father Scott were working in the garden when the garage wall collaped on them, trapping them both.
Before Charmaine stepped outside to call them for supper, the father and son were confined for two hours, according to the Daily Mail. The boy's father, who was injured in the mishap, was rescued from the wreckage. The 12-year-old's family has expressed their sadness since losing their "well-loved boy."

In an emotional statement they said, "After a tragic accident, our son Scott-Swaley has sadly passed away. As a family, we cannot explain the hurt we feel and we are broken. Our Swaley was a well-loved boy who had friends not only in Clacton, but also in Dartford and Wickford and will be missed by so many. As a family, we would like to ask for privacy at this difficult time whilst we come to terms with our loss. We appreciate and would like to say thank you for all of the kind tributes to our boy."
Another relative posted on Facebook, “Another young boy gone too soon… thinking of you & all the family…. such a horrible world we live in.”
His father was pulled alive from the wreckage with an arm injury by police after they rushed to the St John's Road residence. Scott-Swaley however was declared dead on the spot. His death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be created for the coroner.
The house, to which the garage is attached to, was deemed secure. As per The Sun, Detective Inspector James Hardingham, leading the investigation, said, "My thoughts are with the family and friends of those concerned at this sad time. We’re continuing our enquiries to establish the facts leading to the wall collapse."
The incident was attended by three fireman units from Clacton, Weeley, and Colchester as well as an urban search and rescue team. A spokesperson for Essex Fire and Rescue Service said, "Crews were called after reports of two people trapped under a brick wall. Firefighters worked to release both people, a man and a 12-year-old child, from under the bricks. Although crews were able to release the man, the child sadly died at the scene."
Station Manager Nick Singleton added, "This is a tragic incident and our thoughts are with everyone who knew the child as well as the wider Clacton community. Our firefighters worked incredibly hard to save both casualties and this is never the outcome we want to see."
After the tragedy, road restrictions were implemented while emergency personnel handled the situation.
