WASHINGTON DC: Russia released WNBA star Brittney Griner in return for the US releasing notorious Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout on Thursday, December 8, and the public at large is disappointed with this swap which according to the majority, is a win-win situation for Russia. It was reported that the 45th POTUS agreed to the one-for-one exchange with Moscow in recent weeks which took place in the United Arab Emirates. Now, apart from Americans, a former Russian advisor has also claimed that Biden got played by Vladimir Putin in giving away the big fish.

Sergei Markov, the former adviser to Russian President Vladimir Putin, quipped on his Telegram channel that they played Joe Biden when it came to the swap saying, "Putin outplayed Biden. We got back our spy, it seems, and gave away a normal girl." Griner, who had spent more than nine months in prison on a marijuana charge, could have faced up to 10 years in prison if found guilty. Many people are wondering why Joe Biden did not negotiate for US marine Paul Whelan and other Americans who are wrongfully imprisoned as they believe that he made a heavy trade by giving away a spy.

Joe Biden gets slammed for Brittney Griner trade

Republican House leader Kevin McCarthy was upset with his decision and wrote, ""Merchant of Death"—That's the nickname of the prisoner Biden returned to Putin. He was convicted of conspiring to kill American law enforcement. This is a gift to Vladimir Putin, and it endangers American lives. Leaving Paul Whelan behind for this is unconscionable." Another user wrote, "Joe Biden traded a guy called “The Merchant of Death,” for a WNBA player. And left a US marine behind in Russian prison in the process. Biden’s a complete and total disaster on everything."

Trump wrote in a post on his own platform Truth Social, "What kind of a deal is it to swap Brittney Griner, a basketball player who openly hates our Country, for the man known as "The Merchant of Death," who is one of the biggest arms dealers anywhere in the World, and responsible for tens of thousands of deaths and horrific injuries. Why wasn't former Marine Paul Whelan included in this totally one-sided transaction? He would have been let out for the asking. What a 'stupid' and unpatriotic embarrassment for the USA!!!" Another user wrote on Twitter, "Marine Paul Whelan. Wrongfully detained in Russia. Serving 16 years. Marc Fogel. Teacher. Serving 14 years in Russian prison for prescribed medical marijuana. Brittney Griner, America-hating WNBA player jailed for marijuana. Guess which one Biden swapped a terrorist for?"

One user wrote, "BREAKING America-hating pothead Brittney Griner is being prisoner swapped back to the US for the most dangerous man in the World, Viktor Bout, the Merchant of Death. Why would Biden do this now? Exactly when Putin would profit most from having the biggest arms dealer home?" Another user tweeted, "We traded a Russian Arms dealer Viktor Bout, known as the "Merchant of Death" to Russia for the release Brittney Griner... 1) I never want to hear the words "Gun Control" come from Biden's mouth again after this one 2) US Marine Paul Whelan is still imprisoned in Russia."
