Willie McGinest: Ex-NFL player, 51, charged for assault after hitting man with a bottle in LA nightclub

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: A former NFL linebacker has reportedly been slapped with assault charges after brutally hitting a man in a Los Angeles nightclub. The identity of the man, whom Willie McGinest reportedly assaulted, has not been revealed yet but it has been said that the incident happened on December 9 at Delilah in West Hollywood.

A video of the altercation has been obtained by TMZ, which showed McGinest and a few of his reported acquaintances hitting the victim while he ​​was sitting at a table at the club. It has been said that the 51-year-old also used a bottle to hit the person’s face. As per the footage, first McGinest confronted the man and began hitting him with punches as soon his acquaintances joined him.

Despite other club goers and staffers’ repeated attempts, the victim got bruised. Eventually, McGinest was seen leaving as other people helped the victim, who seemingly looked agitated and imbalanced, to stand up.

Following the brawl, McGinest was reportedly arrested on December 19 around 7.30am. He was pressed with assault with a deadly weapon charge. However, he did not spend much time at the West Hollywood sheriff's station since he gave $30,000 as his bond amount.

Amid this chaos, the NFL Network has also issued a statement. As per reports, McGinest currently serves as its football analyst. Now, the network reportedly said, “Willie McGinest will not appear on NFL Network while we review the matter.”

Meanwhile, McGinest's actions have attracted a lot of attention online with a person tweeting, “For real! What possesses someone in his position to do some s**t like that? As a grown ass man, father of 2, with a s**t ton to lose, I’m not bout that kinda life anymore.” Another tweet read, “Well, that’s all kinda stupid for a grown ass man with a lot to lose. What the hell?!”



 



 



 

A user shared, “Imagine you’re just hanging out and Willie McGinest storms in and starts stomping some dude at the table next to you…” Another wrote, “Just lost his job on the NFL network and is about to be facing criminal charges but more damaging will be the civil lawsuits from the man he assaulted plus various ‘traumatized’ patrons of the restaurant looking to get paid.”

Another person chimed in, “Wonder what that was about. Either way that boy kept his feet the entire time lol he prolly woulda put in some work of us own giving the chance at not being jumped lol.” The fourth one tweeted, “I need to know the back story. Dude just chilling having a candle light dinner with his lady and they walked up and commenced to mop him up.”
