Democratic National Convention 2020: Host Eva Longoria dubbed 'pretty amazing', Internet asks will she run for office?

Longoria is one of four actresses who will emcee the mostly-virtual event in the next three days

This year's Democratic National Convention will undoubtedly be far different from the past gatherings as most of the speakers will attend it virtually and many of the segments will be pre-recorded. Actress and activist Eva Longoria is hosting the Day 1 of DNC 2020. 

The former 'Desperate Housewives' star kicked off the night with an introduction and a pre-recorded rendition of the National Anthem.“The past four years have left us as a nation diminished and divided,” she said. “America is better than this,” she declared. Longoria is one of four actresses who will emcee the mostly-virtual event, each on their own night.

But as soon as the news of Longoria serving as the moderator went viral, it sparked confusion among netizens, as one user commented, "I guess Eva Longoria is representing Texas? I guess." and some asked, "Eva Longoria, how come you didn't run for office? @EvaLongoria #DNCConvention #DNC2020 #DemConvention #DemocraticConvention." Soon a lot of people started saying, that Longoria should definitely run for office as another user reiterated, "Hey, um, real talk: has Eva Longoria thought of running for office? Because she's pretty amazing. #DNC2020". Many replied to this tweet while adoring Longoria as one user replied saying, "Eva is one very smart cookie. When she was doing Desperate Housewives she had lots of time sitting around the set. So while many knit, Eva studied for Masters Degree in Latino Studies," and "She opened for Bill Clinton in SF a while back for a local race, and she KILLED it. She’s awesome."

While some POTUS supporters slammed her by saying, "@EvaLongoria actually it's people like you perpetuating lies, racism, division, identity politics, virtue signaling and out and out lying about @POTUS, his supporters, and vilifying the entire white race if they don't kneel and confess to the false narrative of white privilege," and "Nope. I was until I saw Eva Longoria “hosting “ it, or whatever you call her role. WTF? This is a serious business, not a celebrity endorsement commercial. While I respect the right of celebrities to speak their opinion, they have no role in official business, as a result."

Calling her appearance odd, another user commented, "Odd watching Eva Longoria talk about “systemic racism”. She is of Mexican heritage, is worth $80 million, she is an actress, a model, a celebrity, and is hosting the Democrat convention in front of millions of yours. Poor woman, in this racist America she never had a chance." While some even questioned the party, saying, "Eva Longoria has a BS in kinesiology from Texas A&M University-Kingsville & a Masters in Chicano Studies from CSUN. Her thesis was titled: “Success STEMS From Diversity: The Value of Latinas in STEM Careers" Trump supporters: Why is the chick from Desperate Housewives speaking?"

Longoria is an activist and actress who has worked in the hit reality show, 'Desperate Housewives'. She is not just an activist and actor, she is also a producer and businesswoman. She has been named as Hollywood's most beautiful women by various publications including People en Español and People magazines. She has done her Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiology at Texas A&M University-Kingsville and a Master's degree in Chicano Studies from California State University, Northridge.
