Henry Thomas arrested: 'E.T the Extra Terrestrial' and 'Haunting of Hill House' actor held for DUI in Oregon
The actor who played 10-year-old Elliot in 'E.T the Extra Terrestrial' was arrested for a DUI in Oregan on Monday, according to TMZ. Henry Thomas was found passed out behind the wheel of his car after a motorist called 911 at around 8:30 pm to report that a person was in a residential intersection and the vehicle wasn't moving. Thomas was then picked up by the Tualatin PD who reportedly had to wake him up.
He was taken to Washington County Jail on suspicion of DUI after they found signs of intoxication even though his car did not smell of alcohol, the report said. It is unclear what the signs were. His BAC has also not been revealed. He was held for the night and was released on his own recognizance, according to a spokesperson, on Tuesday morning.
Thomas found fame as a child star in the Steven Spielberg hit E.T. in 1982. The story followed Thomas's character Elliott, a little boy who ends up befriending an extraterrestrial named 'E.T'. E.T is stranded on Earth and along with his siblings, the boy helps the alien go back home while hiding him from the government. The movie went on to be the highest-grossing film of the year. Thomas also won a Most Promising Newcomer to Leading Film Roles award at the British Academy Film Awards the very next year.
His most recent hit included Netflix's 'The Haunting of Hill House' where he played a young Hugh Crane.
