Nicki Minaj recently headlined the 2022 Essence Festival of Culture in New Orleans and apparently took a dig at rap icon and collaborator Kanye West. The fierce female emcee took to the live stage of the event when she asked her DJ to pull a plug on their 2010 collaborative hit ‘Monster’ while supposedly dubbing the rapper as “Clown.”
 
It is not clear as to why the ‘Anaconda’ hitmaker took a jibe at Kanye West but Nicki dissing the Grammy-winning rapper came on the same day of Cardi B’s new single called ‘Hot S**t’ that also features Kanye West. It is also believed that Nicki Minaj is reportedly pissed over her new song with Kanye called ‘New Body’ not hitting the streaming platforms.

Did Nicki Minaj take a dig at Kanye West?

Addressing the live audience at Essence Festival, Nicki asked the DJ to stop playing the track ‘Monster’. She stated, “I’m ‘Monster’-ed out, and we don’t f**k with clowns,” before changing the subject saying she wanted to “give a shout-out to New Orleans.” For the unversed, Kanye West and Nicki Minaj’s ‘Monster’ was later replaced with the ‘Runaway Love (Remix)’ with himself, Justin Bieber, and Raekwon.
 
The song ‘Monster’ was Kanye’s third single from ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’ and it peaked at number 18 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Speaking of ‘New Body’, Minaj told The Shade Room in October 2019 saying, as reported by Complex, “What's funny is that I did a song with Kanye, that he now wants to transform into a gospel song. She added, “I done wrote three different verses chile, and I don't know. We ain't seeing eye to eye on it. I don't know, but of course, I love and respect Kanye, and Kim, we'll see what happens with that." A clip from the song went viral on TikTok in April 2020 and in June of the same year, the female emcee urged his then-wife Kim to release the track.

‘Waiting for Nicki Minaj to slaughter Kanye West’

Social media were quick to share their valuable opinion on Nicki having a beef with Kanye. One fan stated, “Waiting on that nicki minaj diss from Kanye.” Whereas, another claimed. “I was waiting for Nicki Minaj to slaughter Kanye West.” The next one tweeted, “I speak for all Kanye fans when I say Nicki Minaj has truly surpassed him in terms of rap ability and legacy.” Another user added, “Nicki Minaj really beefing with Kanye West?” As, one concluded, “Idk why nicki minaj fat a** is dissing kanye now be original.”
